Well done to Ireland, did well to hang on there. Damn French. :x :slol:

England and Ireland far and away the best teams this tournament, very close between the two. Wales and France, flashes of good and bad, very sketchy. Italy and Scotland, less said the better. Always have a soft spot for Italy though, they are improving.

This, useless bloody frogs. Are they good at anything?

Well done Ireland and BoD  obviously wanted England to win it but can't begrudge Ireland taking it. A fitting end to an incredible career.

Aye, I should have said well done Ireland, they're always second choice for the trophy if England can't do it

Was the only Welsh fan in a room of 6 English friends and just had the build up/games/post-game back to back all afternoon.

My personal highlights were England gifting Italy their try just when it looked actually possible for England to at least make up the points difference, how insanely dangerous North/Cuthbert/Roberts especially looked and the forward pass at the end of the Ireland game meaning we stayed above France in the table and that Ireland pipped England to the crown.

BOD     So glad they held on. Also, it would've been horrible if France had pipped that and handed the title to England after their try was actually dropped rather than grounded. An injustice to end the BOD era would've been horrible :(

All things considered, an excellent day. Ireland deserved that.

This thread is lovely compared to the football thread. Thanks for the folks congratulating Ireland. On Irish TV BOD teared up. Which made me tear up.

The NH teams have a great chance in next years WC!

Congratulations Ireland, well played.

We beat the champions and took home the triple crown so can't begrudge the Irish winning too much, excellent 6 nations.

Congratulations to Ireland, they've played some great rugby-as have England. Wales and France have shown glimpses but have a lot of problems to sort going into the World Cup. The less said about Scotland the better...

While I'm happy for Ireland to have won but does anyone think in the case of a tie the winners should be decided by a head to head?

Not sure Ireland are more deserving winners because they beat the poorer sides by more points when they lost to England.

If France had won yesterday they would have gone above us, even though we comfortably beat them. A league/tournament table has to reward the best play over the course of the season rather than just one game where England beat Ireland (I'm not saying England didn't have a great tournament from the France game onwards of course).

Also I never thought I'd say this, but Photek is right. This thread/sport is so much nicer than the football thread

I'm obviously slightly biased but I do think that England were the best team in the tournament, on balance. However, it's our own fault - started slowly and should never have lost to France so can't begrudge Ireland the win. Not a bad way for BOD to go out either.

Unless I fit in a couple of NGD games before-hand, no live rugby until November for me :(
