Revolution.

Has anyone started watching this.
I'm watching episode 2 now and I'm really disappointed. It seems like it's going to be similar to Lost which I hated due to all the gooseberry fool about characters I didn't care about. It seems like series like this have almost no action and try and get you drawn into the story but the story here's just not that interesting.

Is anyone here an early fan and if so what am I missing?

I really enjoyed it, because it's not strawberry floating Lost.

What I'm worried about is that recently series have a habit of taking an entire episode to only move the story forwards a tiny bit.
This may be a bad example here but Stargate Universe series 1 did this as well where the entire first series fells like it should have been able to be covered in 4 or 5 episodes and the rest could have been good old fashioned action.

I hope it's more like Battlestar Galactica with high octane action all the way and less like Lost which I gave up with after 2.5 series.

Well, you gave up Lost exactly the wrong time. I did the same actually but got drawn back into towards the end of 2. 3, 4 and 5 were excellent but then you have season 6 where it all falls apart and you realise that the writers didn't have a clue how to finish it or answer the questions they set up. Well, they did have an end but we all guessed it by the end of season 1 and they prolonged it over 6 more seasons >_>

This program breaks it's own rules though. Why are there more muskets than modern guns for example?
Why did they have slaves dragging that helicopter as whatever killed electricity didn't kill the horses or cows who would be much better at that job and complain a whole lot less.
I suppose I'm just impatient and can't be bother to wait 5 years to find out why they lost power as my first thought of an EMP was wrong as plenty of places would survive even a monster EMP attack just fine and it's not prolonged.

We're only half way through the first season, don't expect all the answers any time soon.

I saw the first two episodes of this and thought it was pretty terrible. It's trying so hard to be like Lost, but more 'epic', and at times it's embarrassing. Won't be bothering.

Television would be a better place if more shows were Lost.

I saw one of the episodes, I don't even know what number it was but I didn't really enjoy it at all.

It was the episode where some farmer gets shot by the milita because he had guns hidden. I don't understand how a blackout would all of a sudden cause the army who still have guns and are trained in them to suddenly lose all power and some rag tag bunch of idiots take over.

It's going to be another Lost to me, interesting idea but done in completely the wrong way and also it'll go on for far too long.

Yeah count me in the "this is gooseberry fool" camp. Watched the first 2 episodes today and I didn't think it was all that good, I mean why are people running around with muskets?

Because technological regression sent people a lot further back than they envisioned?

Decent episode in the US this week. Maybe the best so far, so hope for the 2nd half of the season. Some solid additions to the cast as well.

It really doesn't break its own rules.

If you are wondering why modern weapons are more scarce in a world like this, then that's easy. Its not the guns, but the bullets that are the issue. With no power there is no way to make any more modern ammo for the fancy guns, hence a return to weapons that can be made without power (at least for the average grunt in the militia).

As for why the army isn't in charge...it is. That's what the militia is, elements of the army who took over in the chaos caused by nothing working anymore in order to restore order.

I've been watching at US pace, stuff does get explained along the way, but they do keep drip feeding it little by little.

I've seen the first two episodes and I'm enjoying it. I think some people expect too much from every new show now.

It is explained how there are militia running around in charged. The US is a big country, there are different people in charge all over the country. Even if the us army was at full strength that it is right now in terms of man power there's no way they could control the whole country on foot.

What happened to bicycles or roller skates as they are both faster than walking and don't require electric.
