I think if you only raise and play 2-2 through to 6-6 in the hope of hitting a set, you shouldn't be playing poker.

To be honest if you are not playing sixes when you get to that level of shallowness in the game, I think you'll lose long run. I agree on the likes of 2-2, 3-3 and 4-4 in early position.

Well I should have shipped or folded the hand pre, considering that I was too early. My own fault really. In later position, I would always play pocket pairs, regardless of the size. There's more than just set mining involved imo.

DJK123 has locked up his 8th WSOP cash of the summer.

He's 8 for 9.

So sick.

Speaking of sick, I don't know if anyone was following the Mixed Max event last night but Christ, the beat that Max Steinberg suffered HU which left him crippled was actually vomit worthy. Not in terms of percentages but just the timing, occasion and how long they'd been playing.

When is everybody arriving for Goliath? Depending on when I might try and scope out avenues for a pre-Goliath Open-Face Chinese night or something.

I'll be arriving on the 22nd.

I think it would be a cool idea would be to meet up at say 10:30am on the Friday for some pre-game banter.

Any idea what time we can check in?

Sorry to post such a simple question amidst you guys organizing IRL tournaments :shifty: I’m pretty sure different articles are using different definitions of 3bet though and I’d like to clear it up. Google seems to give me a different answer each time and all poker sites/forums are blocked from work.

I thought it went like this: Blinds/Calls > Bet > Raise > 3bet > 4bet. But Ryan’s 6max guide is suggesting that from MP the only person we should 3bet is UTG, more specifically he says to 3bet an “UTG opener” with certain hands. Here’s the problem… How can you do that? If UTG opens then my raise in MP would be a raise, not a 3bet. I have to either call or raise, I can’t 3bet! Unless he’s using the blinds as the first bet and it actually goes: Blinds/Calls > Bet > 3bet. In which case a 3bet is the same as a raise?… Hence confusion.

To put it simply, a 3bet is the third bet.

Pre flop the big blind, having posted the blind, is the 1bet. The person who makes the first raise is making a 2bet. If you now make a re-raise, that is a 3bet. If it someone else then chooses to raise me, it is a 4bet. Next raiser is the 5bettor.

Is that clear?

Example:

Sykes is in the big blind (the one 1bet). Clarkman makes an opening raise UTG (2bet). It folds to Satriales on the button who re-raises (3bet). Sykes then 4bet shoves from the big blind.

Clear as day and I really should have twigged that myself thanks

Definitely ask those questions Pacman! The amount of terms I had no idea about (almost certainly including 3bet) were crazy, but asking on here is a great way to find out.
