Also - I'm trying to ease the pain by simply winning big on Stars. How hollow those words seem now.

What's the threads choice?

Not seen them all, but can't stop laughing at Hellmuth running it 4 times A9 v KK on 9T9tt and losing three of them, two to trips and one to a runner-runner flush.

Good luck for tomorrow, Sat! What time does it start?

Gonna check out those hands tomorrow. I recognise a lot of them, such sick hands.

Starts in two hours! (Midday)

I'll post a few updates during the breaks. The main aim today is survival as the blinds in day 3 start at 800/1600 and so even with my 42k starting stack that wouldn't be too disastrous. Day3 average will probably be about 75k.

There should be some regular updates here: http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?board=2.0

Just before the break I saw John Murray call a raise from Mateyboy on the button, and the blinds followed along. It was checked to Mateyboy on the 5h Kd Jh and he bet 1400. Murray and the BB Luigi Cocita called and we went 3-way to the 3d turn. Mateyboy bet 4500 and Murray folded, flashing me his cards (King Jack). Cocita called and the river was the As. Mateyboy bet 11,900 and Cocita passed.

Sorry I couldn't update as I've have no internet all day! They have wifi at Wembley but nobody knows the password, and despite getting full phone reception I couldn't connect to 3G. :x

Basically I got knocked out just before the dinner break

Here is a quick summary:
I start with 42k and the very first hand I play I three barrel bluff with a draw and get called down by top pair. This cost me about 4k and gave me a bit of a spewy image, which paid of when next hand I call a limp from LP with 74s and flop is KJ7 and gives me flush draw. We all check and turn is another 7. I bet quite big and get two callers. River is the other 7 to give me quads. I bet big again and get one caller. I then set mine small pocket pairs and make three full houses with the hour to build my stack up to around 65k with the average at about 55k.

After this first hour I get dealt complete rubbish for the rest of the tournament. I saw others at my table show AA 7 times, and the largest pocket pair I ever got was TT which I made a good fold pre when someone re-raiused with JJ. (They ended up losing to A8 who made trip 8's).

So the first dent to my 65k stack was when I had Ax suited and bet every street on a KQTxx board with gutshot and flush draws which both missed. I got called all the way by 77 and lost about 10k.

Shortly after that I raise from MP with A5s and get 3bet by the BTN, I call. Flop is QQT and gives me flush draw. We both check. I hit my flush on the turn (J) and lead out, he calls. River is K. I bet 4k on the river and he re-raises to 14k. The guy had arrived late and so I'd not seen him play many hands yet and I figured he could easily have a weaker flush or even just an ace for the straight. So I call and he shows KQ for the full house.

I'm down to about 30k and every time I try to play a pot with my weak cards, I get 3bet and have to call as stacks are still deep enough to make it worth it when I hit, however I don't hit anything. None of my bluffs work as opponent always has it.

I lose another quite big pot when I see a free flop in the BB with Q4, flop is T43. Opponent bets and I 3bet, he calls. Turn is a T, he checks and then calls when I bet again. River is a J and we both check. He show K4 and has out-kicked me.

Eventually I'm down to 10k and with AT on the BTN, I make a standard raise but decide I will get it in if the BB raises (which he has been doing all the time). He does and I ship it, he has AQ.

It was a great day still and well worth the trip, but the cards were about as bad as I could have imagined. I could have just kept folding but with deeps stacks I think you need to play suited aces and that sort of stuff, I just got unlucky to make nut flush and then lose to a rivered full house.

On the plus side, now that i've got a few days off work I've decided to ride to Scotland on my motorbike tomorrow!

Unlucky Sat. Still, you can say you've played at Wembley! What was the general standard like?

It was a weird mix of terrible players, and really great players. A large portion of the field bought in direct for €3000, and the rest got through on €3 satellites.
The guy on my left limped UTG every single time and then would fold to a raise. It would be fine once or twice, but he did it all day, every single time he was UTG! :fp:

On my table (I was on the same table all day) there was probably two really good players who it was hard to put on hands and they tended to know if you were strong or not and would put you to tough decisions. Then there were two quite bad players who were easy to read. I folded KJ to a 3bet on a J-high flop that was completely safe, I showed the jack as I folded and the guy predictably turned over pocket aces. The other players on the table were all pretty good but with some weaknesses.

Well it was an adventure anyway. Either way John Murray is still in.

I've just spent an hour or so learning about and customising my very first poker HUD. Any chance anyone could give me a few tips or pointers on how to customise it further? I know every persons HUD needs to be different, so I play FR regular speed micro stakes and only one table at a time. I often play in SnGs too but I almost always bubble or lose, then grind my bankroll back up again in the FR cash games.

I intend to add more stats as I progress, if there are any essential ones that are missing please let me know. I'd also really appreciate knowing if I've misunderstood anything so I've put my thinking in brackets. The conditional formatting is just the default values of Hold'em Manager and I will adjust these as I play and learn.

Name (not sure why I need this but hey).
Total Hands (will tell me how accurate the stats are).
______________
TOT VPIP [<15] [15-30] [>30] (will tell me how tight/loose someone is).
TOT PFR [<10] [10-30] [>30] (if this is high I will be more likely to call a PFR from this guy).
Postflop Aggression Factor [<2.2] [2.2-3.8] [>3.8] (if this is high I might be more likely to call).
TOT 3Bet [<5.9] [5.9-9.1] [>9.1] (if this is high I will be more likely to call, 4Bet or shove).

DJK has made two final tables this year at the WSOP in just seven events, this most recent is in the colossal Millionaire Maker event. His first was in the $5k 8-handed event. Kid is sick.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.
