Yeah, in all the OFCP I've played, I only ever got into Fantasy Land once. Narnia sounds a lot more achievable, but also hugely skews that game in comparison.

I was able to get to Fantasyland in our first session but that was before we were accumulating points and really knew what we were doing.

Back to back Narnias. 8-)

Well you only get into Narnia with 7-7-X on your front row, it can't be 8-8, 9-9 etc, so you only going to get the opportunity every now and again.

Ah that's interesting. I suppose that does balance it a little.

My general OFC tactic without that is to put any starting pair from 22-55 in the middle, so as to immediately orient myself. This might be a wrong though. I just don't know yet. With 66-TT there's an argument for doing the same.

The buzz generated by a solitary 7 being dealt was immense, as was the suspense of whether they would attempt to (and successfully) crossover to Narnia.

My general strategies were:

Back: Any three or more to a flush, pairs 9+ with your highest paint card (if indeed you have been dealt one), gutshot straight draw, two pairs if dealt.
Middle: Singular middling cards, i.e. 8-J, any two suited connectors between 6-10 unless they interfere with my back row.
Front: Junk cards which otherwise don't fit into any kind of hand I'd be looking to make and sevens if the rest of my starter hand looks to give me a reasonably decent chance to reach Narnia. A low pair also often helps to avoid being scooped.

I generally looked to abandon all draws by 9th street unless I'd improved somewhat or I simply had no other way out (this happened in the double flush + Narnia hand I had (I'll see if I can get a picture online later). I started out with 8s 7d 5s 4h 3h and laid it out as follows:

Front: 7d
Middle: 3h 4h
Back: 5s 8s

Had I received a 6 instead of a 7 then I’d have stuck the 3456 open ender on the bottom, but because I had an 8 there as well which is so close to the other cards I just decided to spread my suited connectors around and go with the Narnia draw. My hand ended up as follows:

Front: Th 7h 7d
Middle: 2h 3h 4h Qh Kh
Back: 2s 5s 8s Qs As

:slol:

I believe I won 43pts ( 16+16+11?) from this hand (I didn’t scoop Sat as he had made an AK high flush IIRC); otherwise I’d have had 48.

Went from average chipstack to busted in 2 hands on sky poker  Flopped the nuts flush and got shoved into. Called and he hit runner runner full house. Next hand get dealt aces. Raise 3xblind. One caller. Flop comes K 8 10. I bet, he shoves, I call. He has 8 10 off.

 You have to laugh or you cry.

For the first time I managed to build a bankroll on Stars, deposited 25$ in December and by February had over 90$.

I followed a friend's advice and cashed out 50$ (mainly for the buzz of actually cashing out once) and that same day went up to 90$ again.

Then I lost it all in a space of 2 weeks... a combination of unlucky hands, bad beats and of course playing tilted after loosing pots where my odds were over 80% :fp:

Now this is not a rant against Bad Beats (because you all know, that bad beat stories are only interesting for the ones having them)

But, having had a nightmare two weeks of poker, should I just take a week off from playing at all on stars, because sometimes you just have that feeling that this was PS's way to tell me to regive them the 50$ I cashed out :D

Unlucky bro.

If you're on tilt and think that the beats are affecting how you play then you should stop playing immediately until you're feeling good to go again (unless you're in a tournament or a sit and go in which case there's not a lot you can do until you win or bust).

What games/stakes were you playing?

Mainly the $3.50 S&Gs

I mean stuff like this (this was my last s&g played hyper as I just wanted to either bust my last remaining cash or get some life back)

Table '696187184 1' 9-max Seat #9 is the button
Seat 1: dubola (441 in chips)
Seat 2: loretta77 (253 in chips)
Seat 3: Kakihara666 (451 in chips)
Seat 5: Keze7$7 (289 in chips)
Seat 6: velebk (466 in chips)
Seat 7: Drej1908 (1023 in chips)
Seat 8: ljenkinsl90 (565 in chips)
Seat 9: DUDUAPLE (1012 in chips)
dubola: posts the ante 4
loretta77: posts the ante 4
Kakihara666: posts the ante 4
Keze7$7: posts the ante 4
velebk: posts the ante 4
Drej1908: posts the ante 4
ljenkinsl90: posts the ante 4
DUDUAPLE: posts the ante 4
dubola: posts small blind 20
loretta77: posts big blind 40
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Drej1908 [Kh Ah]
Kakihara666: raises 40 to 80
Keze7$7: folds
velebk: folds
Drej1908: raises 120 to 200
ljenkinsl90: folds
DUDUAPLE: calls 200
dubola: folds
loretta77: folds
Kakihara666: calls 120
*** FLOP *** [Ks 8h 3d]
Kakihara666: checks
Drej1908: bets 160
DUDUAPLE: raises 648 to 808 and is all-in
Kakihara666: folds
Drej1908: calls 648
*** TURN *** [Ks 8h 3d] [9h]
*** RIVER *** [Ks 8h 3d 9h] [7c]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
Drej1908: shows [Kh Ah] (a pair of Kings)
DUDUAPLE: shows [Js Ts] (a straight, Seven to Jack)
DUDUAPLE collected 2308 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 2308 | Rake 0
Board [Ks 8h 3d 9h 7c]
Seat 1: dubola (small blind) folded before Flop
Seat 2: loretta77 (big blind) folded before Flop
Seat 3: Kakihara666 folded on the Flop
Seat 5: Keze7$7 folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 6: velebk folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 7: Drej1908 showed [Kh Ah] and lost with a pair of Kings
Seat 8: ljenkinsl90 folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 9: DUDUAPLE (button) showed [Js Ts] and won (2308) with a straight, Seven to Jack

I mean I know bd beats are part of the game, and I dont complain when the game hands me that runner runner straight but sometimes the game just dishes them in quick succession and always against you... that it really makes you paranoid the software is getting a revenge of sorts...

It's not but the human brain is built to try and recognize patterns so it's a little natural to assume that it's all going against you for a reason. I'd advise you take a few days off to chill and enjoy the fact you're a winner. :)

Just deposited 20 euro, and of course I win my first S&G after that deposit, with the river saving my ass 2 times after some bad calls.

I know it is not rigged, but it does a very good job in making you think it is... now time to switch off stars till the weekend, and maybe play a live game when i get the chance

I'm up for a Sunday grind.

Also, Micromillions is back starting 14th March. Let's take one down, after our 66% success rate in Pompey...
