Monnette Eliminated with a Few Choice Words for Chen

Stud-8

Bill Chen /
John Monnette /
Bill Chen completed on third and John Monnette raised. Chen made the call. On fourth street, Chen checked and Monnette bet. Chen called. On fifth, things got a little interesting.

Chen checked and Monnette bet. After thinking for a little bit, Chen said, "All right, I'll put you in." There was a question about what that actually meant and the floor was called over. It was ruled that the verbalization from Chen was a raise and he had to raise. Monnette called and was all in.

"I've got nothing," said Chen as he turned over the .

"I know you have nothing, " said Monnette, showing the for a pair of threes.

On sixth street, Monnette picked up the and Chen the . Chen took the lead with his pair of queens and Monnette was on the ropes.

Both players got seventh street down and Chen asked Monnette if he wanted to show first or not.

"You're first you f***ing idiot," responded Monnette.

Chen then showed the and Monnette pulled the . Chen's pair of queens were best and he won the pot to eliminate Monnette in 18th place. After the hand, Monnette had a few choice words for Chen.

"You think you're a genius," said Monnette to Chen, "But you're f***ing retarded."

Bill Chen 680,000 45,000
John Monnette 0 -163,000

With title 'Poker Player's Championship' you'd expect more sportsmanship than this going on. How dreadful.

When you copy paste hands like that you need to copy the image locations of the cards or put them in yourself. You can see the full thing here: http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting ... .33820.htm

John Monnette has always been a classless prick. He does this every summer in near enough every event he plays. See here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29/ne ... he-508528/

I can't stand the bloke  I'll concede that Luke Schwartz is worse but Hellmuth is hardly a great meter-stick to measure irritation levels next to IMO.

Nope. What happening?

The only problem I get is that I have to refresh it after clicking 'I don't have Facebook' the first time. Works a charm second time.

Good luck!

He did run really well (I lost count of the number of boats he made in the Omaha variants) but you can only play what is dealt. It's probably one of the tougher events to even make the money in due to the standard of play and he wasn't running sick for 5 days straight, just when it mattered most. To win this event in 2010 and 2012 is pretty incredible accomplishment, IMO.

The bit on this week's Final Table podcast where Dennis mentioned he busted against some guy who flatted his 4bet out of position with J9dd. :slol:

Yeah, that wasn't nice. I ended up 2nd, got lucky with JQ v KQ all in with 5 left, then got unlucky heads up. Swings and roundabouts.

Anyone else playing much nowadays?
