In the first post of this thread there are links to some good articles that will help.
As for books there are plenty and it depends what sort of game you want to learn. I've not read many myself, but found 'The Poker Tournament Formula' by Arnold Snyder to be a good read.

Generally I find a lot of books teach stuff that is only relevant if you are playing against thinking players, which few are at the levels most of us play. So it's probably best to learn more about the odds and math involved in certain situations rather than how to outplay someone.

I'll keep an eye out for it. I'll get reading those articles again. I remember having some issues before with some because the acronyms and terms I had no idea about, but I'll try and muddle through. Any help is always welcome.

I've arranged another Sunday game which I can change to Play Money if people want.

AA vs Q4 suited.

Q4 hits flush on 3rd flop card, turn and river.

I never win with As.   I get so pissed off

EDIT: 3 or 4 hands later the same player - he goes all in and I call (not a huge all in) with A3 suited. He has queens and I hit quads. Got all my chips back. Bitch.

Is this a good or bad way to play the hand? Any input appreciated. (I've figured it's best to start at micros.)

It's not bad, I guess you could check after the flop and hope they try and bluff, but at those stakes it's always good to just bet when you have something as you will often get paid off.

Agree with this. No point in doing anything but bet bet bet.

Your bet sizing is good too considering your stack size.

Okay, thanks for the advice :) I'm sticking with Micros for now before anything bigger as I guess it's a good play for me to pick everything up slowly and sensibly.

I've also been reading a lot on 2+2 today and they really push that PokerTracker thing. Is it necessary at all, or something that can be gone without?

I'd never not use a poker tracker. I did for a while but it's quintessential to your game at the time and the development of your game. You can honestly track everything and anything.

If you are serious about playing and improving you should consider investing sooner rather than later.

There are also ways you can get it 'free' through sign up bonuses created by the companies who make the programmes.

Do you know who some of these companies might be?

I'm currently using the Pokertracker 4 Beta, which is free. So perhaps give that a try.

I'm deep in a Micro Millions $4 1R1A tournament 8-)

There were just under 10,000 players and we are down to 120. I'm currently 2nd thanks to this hand (all-in pre):

Okay. So I've installed it, should I just let it run while I play? What's the key things to look out for with it?

If you click on 'get hands while playing' then it should save your hands while you play so you can look back on them later and it'll graph your winnings. The main use though is as a HUD, so after 1 or two hands you should see stats appear on your opponents.
