I had hoped they'd done away with the "third" version of each gen and that OR and AS would both have the superior Emerald plot.

I think they are just covering their asses as it says in the story. They probably won't release it..

Pokemon Grey and AquaBlue were trademarked back in the B/W and FR/LG days. I think it's just to cover their asses, they aren't gunna do a third version of a remake. Probably. Like 90% sure.

Between the fact that there hasn't been a third version since Pokémon Platinum and the Pokémon Water Blue and Grey trade marks, I'm confident that Delta Emerald is just a safeguard.
Re: Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire - November 2014
As expected, Pokemon Get☆TV is set to feature a large segment on Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire during its June 15th show. CoroCoro will be out by then, so the show will likely exhibit the same information.
its also gonna be at E3, and corocoro should be leaked shortly, so big information blow out ahoy.

Corocoro leaked, new info a bound, I'l spoiler it for those who don't want it.
Kyogre and Groudon's new "formes" are named Primal / Primeval / Prehistoric. Their "formes" are a regression called "Ancient Devolution," perhaps their original formes before they fought? Mega Sceptile is Grass/Dragon and has Lightning Rod. Mega Swampert is still Water/Ground and its Ability is Swift Swim. Mega Diancie is still Fairy/Rock and its ability is unknown. Like the originals, Team Aqua and Magma return depending on which version you are playing. Team Magma is again headed by Maxie; his admins are Tabitha and Courtney. Team Aqua is lead by Archie; his admins are Matt and Shelley. All of them feature new designs or are redesigned. Steven Stone returns with a Mega Charizard X. He is researching Mega Evolution. The Mach Bike and Acro Bike are in the games again. The Mega Evolution item is called the "Mega Bangle" and is used by Brendan and May.

Apparently Junichi Masuda is in LA, so definitely some sort of pokemon news.
Re: Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire - November 2014
The female Team Magma grunts are so cute and cuddly, but the Team Aqua design is pretty cool this time around especially Archie

Some of the Mega Evolution choices are rather strange, aren't they? I can't help but feel an actual evolution for Sableye would have probably been better.
