Is it just me, or do these seem to be implying sequel rather than remake?

Ridiculous to say these brilliant games were the worst. I pumped 300 hours into my Ruby. Black, White, Diamond and Pearl are the stinkers.

Yeah, before X & Y these were the last ones I pumped a significant amount of time into and beat the Elite Four in. Diamond and Pearl are the worst. I liked Black and White despite not putting all that much time into it because at least the game had the balls to only have new Pokémon in it

Whats wrong with the save system?

Save whenever you like, provided you arent in a battle. Seems ok to me.

New Pokémon game :datass:

For me, Black 1 was probably the 'worst' Pokémon game I've played. For some reason it just didn't grab me, pull me in and refuse to let go in the same way that the others before and after have done.

Only one save file. Which is criminal in most games, let alone an RPG aimed at collectors.

They will keep one save file, to boost their Pokebank numbers.

Sorry, why is one file bad? Surely the whole collectors aspect means people are not going to want to ditch their data and pokedex anyway.

Even if Zubats/Tentacools are still in this, at least it'll include much improved repel system so you don't need to go into your bag all time just to use another Repel.

I don't think many people replay pokemon games. Part of the success is the connection players feel to their save file, collection of mons and their team. I'm sure most people here if questioned could probably name their first team they quite easily and that's because people get attached to their own little adventure in the game.

Not just that but with only allowing one save file it helps stem the flow of legendaries and keeps the rarer mons, well, rarer. Obviously there's still options out there to hack stuff in, but when you trade for something rare, it should feel like an accomplishment and one file helps towards that.

As for the whole Pokebank thing, it's an alternative, easier option from needing another console and game, or knowing someone with a console and game.

I think you're looking from a viewpoint that is barely even an issue to all but a few, with a problem that isn't really there.

You're making the comparison between RPGs which savesitem and story information, to an RPG which saves a similar amount of item and story data, plus extra data for 800+ pokemon (Or however many can fit in the box). Originally, they could only afford fit one save file on the cart because of the space needed to save all the Pokemon in the boxes. This is the same cart that could have three saves in Link's Awakening. Save files aren't equal, and most RPGs will still have much smaller save footprints than Pokemon games.

Presumably they have more space now (although they might not, considering they just seem to save more and more stuff), but then the collection and exclusive aspect of the legendaries became a core part of why the series was popular. If you can just have multiple saves, you can farm multiple legendaries with little issue. They know the vast, vast majority of people only own the one copy, so a single save is there way of keeping the trading somewhat relevant. In Pokemon's case, I don't really have a problem with it. Although I don't replay the games, since I would be deleting my critters which I can't bring myself to do. I recently moved all my Pokemon from LeafGreen to X (through Pearl, Soul Silver and White), but the saves are still sitting intact (albeit mostly empty) because it contains all the information, some nearly ten years old, of my original playthroughs.

I can see why it would be a major pain if you wanted to replay the game while keeping your original game save intact, but equating it with other RPGs having multiple saves is a bit pointless as they aren't really similar. The space requirements are different, plus no other RPG has any real reason to want to try and prevent duplication.

I generally buy a second copy to replay later on, when its cheaper, or I buy both versions, have one copy as my poked and competitive battling game, and the other to mess with and replay.

They say remake. Interesting to see what it ends up being.

After 20+ restarts on Red I'm not exactly sure

Still remember my first Blastoise, though. I didn't know how to change party leaders, deposit/withdraw Pokémon from PC so I just went through half of game using Blastoise 90% of time  Had to restart when he was frozen and I can't do anything to simple trainer battle :shifty:

Learned how to do all of these stuff on second playthrough because I took my time reading (awesome) manual.

Mine was:

Blastoise
Mewtwo
Arcticuno
Zapdos
Venusaur
Charizard

Though I only got the latter two much later due to trading. It's pretty much the most unimaginative team you could think of (three starters, three out of the four legendaries) but Goddamn if I wasn't going to let that little gooseberry fool Gary beat me. He clearly should have been sent off to boarding school. He was more like to appear on Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents than he was to complete his bloody Pokedex.

Serebii posted a small update suggesting that Nintendo says the boxart for these games is showcasing 'never before seen pokémon'. Looks like atleast Groudon and Kyogre due for some sort of make-over. Probably Mega Evolutions or new forms 'Omega Groudon' and 'Alpha Kyogre' sounds pretty cool.

First footage of Alpha Ruby and Omega Sapphire this Sunday, I think, I don't know how ahead of us Japan is in time.
