Anyhow, this is just a quick note for those that missed the Game promotion a few months back, Diancie is apparently being made available as a WiFi downloadable event only for a few days from July 24th to July 27th.

Also interesting is that a trailer for the next Pokémon film shown at the end of the current film 'Hoopa: Archdjinni of the Rings' in Japan seems to have revealed two new Pokémon, or new forms. Check out serebii.net for what little information is known about these new reveals: teaser towards the next game instalment?? The new generation XY was released a few years ago now so it's possible....?

First of all, thanks for highlighting the Diancie event. Did not know about that. Haven't played Omega Ruby in a few months.

I reckon there will be a new game reveal soon. Probably Pokémon Z, same region as Y and X, new story, new areas. Day one.

I don't think I even bothered to beat gym 3 in Omega Ruby.

According to the NeoGaf thread, Diancie will be distributed via the Nintendo Network so there's no need to go to GAME.

Yep, so widely available this time but only available for a few days as mentioned.

New game could be more than just a Pokémon Z. The pictures on serebii look more like new Pokémon reveals to me rather than new megas or anything that expands on what we already currently know. Could well be looking at an early peak into the next generation reveal whereas Pokémon Z would still be based on this generation? Look forward to hear more though.

New info has come about some new forms. New anime series will be called Pokémon X Y & Z. Zygarde has several new forms and a new form for Greninja has been shown in which it changes is appearance when it reaches maximum bond with Ash....

I'm guessing it's singles 6v6? And the mention of the OU format, would that be using Smogon's choice for selection of what's banned? Also, when you say you're given a ruleset to use each round, can you give an example of one?

Sorry with all the questions, I've not played competitively much so figured it's worth checking what I might be getting into.

Yeah, it's 6v6 and mostly singles, there might be the odd Doubles round though depending which ideas I go with. It's OU based on Smogon's ruleset (it's what most people are used to and it's pretty much the default on Showdown so figured it'd be a decent basic guideline to set) and as for an example round, the first one is going to be only using starter Pokemon and their evolutions, including spinoff starters as well just to give more options.
A few people have said already that they're a bit rusty with competitive so you should be fine tbh, it's just a bit of fun after all.
