No it's still a thing. For example, posting the fixtures when they came out last week or whenever was banned on the Football365 forums because of the licensing. You could discuss them, but not actually post them

That's the kind of thing that shows how archaic copyright law is. That being said, based on the two links posted by Lex and my vague recollection of studying IP law over 2010/11, I think that the Football365 forums are working on out of date information. The 2012 ruling by the European Court holds more weight than any UK decision on the matter which, I think, is as old as 1959.

Suffice to say, that public screencasting isn't really covered in the copyright act. And videogames have a history of being used for public exhibition, since the likes of Pong and Spacewar.

Arcade machines didn't have an attract mode because only the player playing them was allowed to look at the screen.

(though, interestingly, early versions of Battlezone DID have a visor type dealie... that was removed from later models because only the player could see what was going on, and it was considered detrimental to encourging other people to have a go.)

Quite honestly I consider Fish himself to be secondary to the importance of the debate he's started, especially with the drive towards internet streaming "content" that the console manufacturers have begun this generation.

The problem is that a lot of people have dismissed the debate. I kind of agree as it's a more complicated issue than can be answered with a simple yes or no.
