48 hours, though it said it was from Sunday, so not sure if it expired at midnight last night or if it's still on for a bit today.

I bought it. £14 with Plus. Good price.

For fourteen quid it's a bargain. Definitely wish I'd have hung on; it's only been playable since the November patch, anyway.

I'll be up for some (PS3) games this weekend if anyone's up for it. Probably Saturday evening.

Thanks guys. Haven't managed to get it sorted yet, hold up on their end :x but I can see it being discounted to around the £15-£20 mark over Christmas and New Year's.

Right, impressions.

First the good stuff:

This plays pretty well, and is much, much better than the demo. I also think it plays a better game of football than FIFA does now. Found myself stringing some fairly sexy stuff together. I think £14 was a decent price to pay, especially when you consider...

The bad stuff:

The UI. strawberry float me. It's like everything has been badly translated from Japanese and all the buttons rearranged like a scrambled jigsaw. It's as illogical as they come. Konami - seriously - give me some money and I'll come and give you some honest feedback and guidance about user experience. It'll make everything better.

It took me 25 minutes of downloading updates, and flicking through almost endless notifications, before I even got to the title screen.

The graphics, mainly on replays, sometimes go really lo-res. i can't imagine what causes this but it looks strawberry floating terrible  Luckily I'm usually trying to skip the replays anyway. I haven't managed to locate an option to turn them off altogether, but I'm hoing there is one.

Some other little things:

Let me press X to skip replays - start is clumsy and gets in the way.

Shoot. Shoot. SHOOT. STOP TAKING TOUCHES AND strawberry floating SHOOT. Honestly, playing with England last night, got the by-line with Walcott, pulled back for Rooney, only the keeper to beat, tap square... he takes a touch, waits for a second, and the keeper calmly collects at his feet. :fp:

Again, for £14, not bad, and I'm looking forward to the Master League. And maybe I'll figure out the UI. But so many non-gameplay aspects seem to have regressed since the last version of this I bought (on the PS2, admittedly.)

I've completed around forty online ranking games (PS3 format) and I'm starting to get the 'feel' for the game. It takes time, and I'm still sometimes frustrated by my player 'pausing' when I don't want him to, but I am enjoying it.

It's quite a tough game to learn and, as with previous versions, most online players that you come up against will always select Real or Barca so games are really tough. Even so, the game does deliver that feeling of elation when a move comes off as planned and the ball hits the back of the net. The game demands a lot of practice but it does seem to pay off.

Just taken a 7-0 beating against a decent player who was using Barca, but bounced back to lead Athletico Madrid to a 3-3 draw against Barca (again!). I'm intrigued to see if Konami can finally get things running correctly right from the off with the next version; especially on the new console formats.

I've put quite a few hours into the online ranking games and, I have to say, it's terrific. There seems to be far fewer cheats / quitters than in the previous version; they're still around but it's somewhat a rarity now. The game plays well wii the patches elevating the orignal release into something a lot slicker and more enjoyable. The latest update (PS3) even resolves the "quit the game and the system crashes" fault. At last!

I pop up and down the rankings between 330 and 430... not too hot but I love playing. It's almost enjoyable to be beaten by a player who is a class act, just too see the skill involved in driving a team like FC Twente into playing better than real-life Barca! Most people still choose Barca or Real and it's a top buzz to sometimes beat them using a lower-ranking team.

I can't wait too see if Konami can up their game and launch PES on PS4 in a state that is great right from the launch.

There's a lot of potential when you look at what they achieved with PES 2014 and the Fox Engine, my main with for PES 2015 is that they make it feel more responsive and 'nippier'.

I can't wait to see what EDGE were describing last year as 'photorealism'.

My fear is that Konami will put too much focus on the 'close-ups' and replay graphics rather than on the actual gameplay. Most reviews seem obsessed about player close-ups and stadium realism yet you hardly see (or need) these details in the actual match. It's far more important to get the gameplay slick and keep the controls effective and efficient.

The recent updates have boosted the gameplay but there are still moments of slowdown and slack button responses. I hope that Konami will hit the ground running with the new release; they lost some fans with the poor state of the original 2014 version and many players won't have seen the improvements that have since been made.

I don't see them doing that, if anyone's going to do a graphical overhaul this year it's EA, FIFA sorely needs it, the players body models and non-gameplay animations NEED to be done from scratch.

Unless Konami are complete retards they would've already created assets to the highest quality and scaled them down for 7th gen.

This could easily apply to FIFA as well. It's a shame both of the big football games of this generation seem to roll a dice every time you make an input.

I wouldn't say it's a problem in FIFA 14, they did a lot get the balance between responsiveness and realism right after the FIFA 13 train wreck.

I've really enjoyed playing this over the past couple of months; the patches have (in my experience on the PS3) made the game far better to play than was the case at launch.

The one real bugbear is something that has been introduced in the most recent patch. Some online players have identified two glitch / cheap ways of scoring right from kick-off:

a) A fast striker playing against a weaker time can run past your defenders straight from the centre-circle; it's sometimes tough to get your defenders to react quickly enough to respond.
b) The fast striker runs straight towards the opposition's penalty box whilst a team-mate chips the ball through to him; again, it's difficult to defend against when using a weaker team.

I usually use a weaker team and I'm finding that whenever I score I then have to face the 50/50 chance of some oaf, usually using Barca or Real, using the glitch methods to get a goal back straight away. It's frustrating and I hope Konami can modify the game engine to prevent this.

Even with this fault, I still enjoy the game - my PS3 is basically my PES machine.

Interesting feedback. I haven't given it much time as I find the UI just so obtuse. It's like they have tried to make it as cryptic as possible.

It really isn't clear what selecting a lot of the options will do, particularly around team selection and management. Football management games have had this nailed for years so I don't see how and why they feel the need to make it so complicated.

strawberry float, SWOS did it better in 1994.

I still think it plays a decent game of football, but I find myself massively increasing the length of matches just so I don't have to tackle the menu system quite so frequently.

Jawafour - are you by any chance around on Thursday/Friday during the day? I have some rare time off without any obligation to do anything constructive (ie the GF is at work), so wouldn't mind some games if you fancy it? I won't pick Barca/Real

The menu navigation has been improved by the patches; the cursor is far speedier now. It's almost funny to look back at how crazily slow and awkward this aspect was upon release!

I've only played the online (ranking) one-off matches; I've never even tried the online league or cup modes and barely touched the offline modes. I play using the basic functions and I'm not too hot at the tricks. I've tried to become better by selecting weaker teams; not the weakest but teams like Lazio, Bayer Leverkusen, Urawa and Ivory Coast rather than the usual Barca / Brazil / Man City / PSG. It can be tough but it helps ramp up your ability when you're facing the big teams back-to-back.

I suspect that 'game scripting' plays a part... I seem to go on runs of losses and then wins; sometimes you can tell that you'll never score whilst other times you find that every shot seems to go in.

Poser, I'd be up for a game - I've never used the function to play a match against a friend online as I always play random - I'd be around on Friday between 10am and 1pm if that suits. I don't have a PS3 headset so you won't be able to yell at my terrible play :-).

You'll be better than me, no worries.

Sounds like a date though - I'll drop you a PM. We could be at the mercy of PSN and Konami in terms of game invites, but let's give it a go.

Poser and I were all set to enjoy a few online PES matches; teams had been trained, fitness levels sorted out, a time agreed... and Konami let us down with the PS3 servers. After trying for half an hour, we gave up. Konami, please... sort out the online setup for PES 2015. It's amazing that such beautiful gameplay can be aligned to such incredibly poor online mechanics.

An update patch has been released and it's pretty good. The ease of doing chip shots has been reduced... perhaps too much so; it's impossible now! The ability of top players to simply run through the opposition has been reduced as well - this is a great improvement. The general gameplay feels slightly slicker.

But... there is a new glitch / exploit / cheat that is in danger of ruining online matches. Some gamers have identified that, from a goal kick, there is a bug that allows the keeper to pass the ball to a player... and that ths still works when a player is moved downfield into the opposing penalty box. It's farcical and, especially for the first few times you come up against it, it is really tough to defend.

To avoid getting caught by cheaters exploiting the bug, you need to look out for them moving their striker into your penalty area and quickly rush your controlled player next to him so that you can head the ball away when their goalie punts the ball forward. It is so frustrating and some online players are already attempting the cheat at every single goal kick. I've been 'blocking' such players once the match has finished, but Konami needs to fix ths very quickly.
