That is some strawberry floating woeful animation right there.

Harsh, other than Balotelli's running style the animation is spot on. Cut-scene and celebration animation is 2 generations ahead of FIFA.

So glad to see the transition between animation (my biggest problem with the last 4 PES games) has finally been fixed. So much more responsive than last year :)

Is this up on PSN yet, does anyone know? I've been saying this for five years, but I really do want to love this game.

What the hell are you even looking at? Look at what happens Terry when he's nutmegged.

And everything Ronaldo's doing between that and the shot.

Really don't see anything wrong with it, maybe you prefer FIFA's string-puppet animations :?

Also zoom in on replays and look at how wrists, fingers and ankles move during some of the animations. The player model proportions are spot on too rather than all the player's bodies being modeled on Peter Crouch like FIFA.

The scanned faces in FIFA are close to perfect if you disregard the expressions, but the bodies seem to be drawn from scratch (the player's hands are like Han's false one in Enter the Dragon).

Downloading this now from PSN. General impressions seem to be positive so far.

I can see where the robotic comments are coming from. I thought it was sluggish and passing was a bit hit and miss.

I had one game where the attacker was looking to cross the ball, I pressed sprint to try to block the cross but the game insisted on my player side-stepping/walking like a crab. If I press sprint I want the player under my control to do that, rather than what the game engine thinks I should be doing.

To be fair though I suppose it does take a while to unlearn how you play in 'the other football game' though

EDIT: on PS3 version if anyone cares

See exactly what you mean, sometimes I want to sprint like hell onto a through ball but the CPU makes my player slow down. PS2 PES games had way more assists but they never stopped you from doing what you wanted to do.

I was more impressed with this demo than the first PES 2012 one. Animation's still a bit off though.

I've played a few matches and it seems pretty good. I would prefer it if there was a way to choose which player to put a through ball into. There's been a few occasions when I've had a man in good space to make a run, and the computer has played the through ball to someone else. That's one of my pet hates in football games.

It's way too easy to keep possession on this and a bit easy to get chances too due to the fairly average defensive AI, which seems to manifest itself especially in playing a wonky defensive line and not bothering to mark players in the box. The second of these was the most jarring as I grabbed a couple of goals with Ronaldo from a combined distance of about 12 yards out because nobody in the German defence thought he needed to be closed down. Also, I understand they're trying to replicate a certain fluidity in the way top teams play, but to have Buffon consistently hoof the ball to the centre spot which everyone has drifted away from again and again is wrong on so many levels. Hopefully this is just a work in progress and there will be a better demo closer to release.

I think the point in these summer PES demos is to to get feedback from the fan community.

My main complaint would be that dribbling styles are too varied. I understand what they're trying to do, but some of the weaker players feel awful to control, they're really clunky and some of their touches are really clunky.

England, Portugal, Germany, Italy and some South American club teams (Santos etc.)

It's about an 8 minute match with no ET.

I only had national teams :shifty:

Demo was ok, certainly gave me a better impression than previous pes demos

I actually quite enjoyed this. there were plenty of niggles, but generally it basically felt fun to play, which isn't something i'd say about FIFA which has become such a simulation that it's almost hard work to play it.
player movement is still a bit too 'on rails' and the transition between animations jarring in comparison to FIFA, which tends to mean it immediately looks and feels inferior in comparison, however it definitely seemed better than it was and not such a deal breaker as in the past...
