Unfortunately not, it's the same every year. Highly recommend you change the camera to PITCH SIDE.

Early impressions

+AI, players runs and positioning are brilliant, so intelligent, EA take note!
+Player models and faces so much better than FIFA, as are still frames of body movements

-Goalkeepers, useless
-Dribbling, a bit too rough, needs something like EA's motion blend tech

Did that straight away, what an awful first camera

Anyway, just played one match there and my first thoughts are that the passing is utterly dreadful. It's completely unforgiveable if you are directing your pass in one direction and it goes in another.

First impressions - same gooseberry fool, different year.

I'll keep this short. My main gripe with modern ie. this gen football games is that I don't know whether it's the analogue nature of them with the power meters for passing and 360 dribbling, but I constantly feel that I'm battling the controls. Passing is sluggish, the players (even the fast ones) run like they are traversing custard with concrete shoes on, and in general it's all a bit irritating. Contrast to PS2 era PES, sure all the games had their individual flaws, but I always felt in complete control of my player, passing was crisp and conceding a goal felt like it was down to my own failings rather than clunky control.

Another gripe about this gen PES in particular - why is everything so sluggish in terms of framerate etc? Replays and the 'cut scenes' look woefully inadequate compared to some of the games out there which are shifting much more around yet still performing much better.

I'll give the FIFA demo a shot too, but I won't be buying PES once again. The time when the latest PES was my gaming highlight of the year seems like a lifetime ago now.

It's clear that PES needs to become more like FIFA and FIFA more like PES.

Dribbling and AI are the two main problems in PES, look at the way PES players trap the ball, and drag the ball with the bottom of their feet when turning, FIFA's dribbling looks even worse this year, turning circles are too small and they haven't taken into account how body weight and momentum affect turning. As for AI, if it was more like in PES there'd be no need for L1 runs.

One thing that ruins this game, sprinting in a straight line. They nailed this in ISS Pro 98, how hard is it to get right. No one taps the ball one inch ahead and hits the ball 20 times a second when sprinting, how hard is it Konami!

When is this out on 360?

I can't be arsed to dust off my PS3.

I regret downloading the PS3 version. Took over an hour to download, then I had to install it, and then you have to sit through an intro which goes on and on and on...

And then the game was gooseberry fool.

I thought they'd changed this game. Analogue movement, better graphics, more intelligent players etc. It honestly feels like the last edition I played.

Meh.

I downloaded it last night, but have yet to install it. Maybe I won't bother.

Aren't they releasing another demo later on?

Supposedly yes. But it'll still be the same rubbish game, albeit slightly tweaked.

Awesome, does that mean I may havemto spend over an hour downloading another demo and then sitting through another unskippable intro scene to play the same rubbish game?

Cannot wait for that.

I have to say, I thought it was great actually. Still not up to FIFA standards yet, but a vast improvement over the last few efforts. Graphically much better, there's more life on the sidelines, I like the flow, & passes went exactly where I wanted them to.

Only thing I didn't think was up to much were the goalkeepers, who in this build seem worse than ever. Considering this is an early demo, hopefully that'll be rectified, otherwise that will be rather annoying.

Overall though, quite surprised, really.

It's a great game stuck in a gooseberry fool game's body. By that I mean it's inconsistent (FIFA is average in all departments but consistent). If Konami fixed the bugs it'd be FIFA killer for sure.

No demo coming for the 360:

Sad news, PES fans. The Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 demo will not be coming to Xbox 360, team leader Jon Murphy has revealed.

"Sorry to confirm that due to issues on both sides we can't release the 1st PES2012 demo for 360," Murphy commented in a Tweet. "We've tried hard but have to give up."

He added: "We - Konami, the PES team and myself - are all really, really sorry."

What on earth could the issues be?

I have to say, I really enjoyed it too.

I think I've basically spent the last three editions of FIFA desperately trying to play it like Pro Evo, and failing. I still just can't get on board with FIFA - I spend far too long not being able ot score. I'm just not very good at it.

This Pro Evo felt right, to me, at least. I can see FIFA is the better, more in-depth game, and I hated the Pro Evo menus, but I think it suits my game more. I might, therefore, be making a purchase. I never play online anyway.

Does it still have the Master League?
