x2

You won't see them interrupting an MMA event any time soon.

I guess it depends who it is. Max Holloway has spoken out on climate change before, I'd like to see someone in the audience try to stop him protesting.

Why?

I'm also curious about why anyone would fantasise about skinheads kicking the shite out of non-violent left-wing protesters. Really looking forward to the explanation which I'm sure will be very normal.

Because snooker is a traditionally working class sport / pursuit (call it what you will), and people have no doubt paid a significant some of money to watch the highest level of a thing they are passionate about.

If some nob head with a double barrelled name from the Kensington decided to "disrupt" that, knowing full well that daddy will bail them out of any ensuing unpleasantness, they deserve the chin.

And yes, I am making some assumptions there, and no, I obviously don't really want people getting the gooseberry fool beaten out of them at the Crucible.

You say this like the attendees wouldn't have been reimbursed in some way via refunds or tickets for the next day.

What harm realistically has been done here? Paint bombing the CEO of Shell's home isn't going to draw them any attention, they're just gonna get the cleaners in and forget about it.

I've no issue at all with this (plus snooker is boring but that's by the by).

Spot on. Utterly self-defeating behaviour from middle class twats. Excited to hear the protestors’ surnames though.

as a fan of snooker - who was watching the snooks yesterday - as long as nobody was hurt and the tournament doesnt suffer for it, im not that bothered about the protest

i agree in principle with the protestors aims of reducing usage or reliance on oil, but i dont think impeding their fellow citizen is the way to endenture support outside of an already radical following

i also agree with the right honourable ryall though that doing stuff to impact the rich ceo's isnt going to bother them either - so what is there to do really

Non violent protest is a tough one eh, easily ignored unless you're really strawberry floating annoying and at that point you lose sympathy.

But then you don't want the focus to move to blowing up oil rigs.

Very dystopian times.

Snooker deserves it for interrupting Star Trek TNG in the 90s.

All seems a bit futile to be honest, these protests aren't going to stop the world's reliance on oil. It's too big a target, too nebulous. It's like protesting against meat - ok, good luck. Better to focus on a more tangible thing like diesel buses or SUVs.

I realise that's quite defeatist, but waddayagonnado?

Its time to start a protest group - "Keep Going Oil!" - where we show our support for the oil industry by disrupting the darts

Edited for spelling mistake. I'm not backing down on my point of view yet. Though I am reaching my tipping point.

Try to use a bit of critical thinking rather than typing newspaper headlines.

Everyone's on here's a progressive until they hear that non-violent protest involves causing some kind of disruption or spectacle. Then out come the truncheons. "Look, that student has green hair! They're trying to tell us the planet is dying! That's cringe, they're probably 'middle class', spit on them, beat them up!"

I used to play snooker. My mate was a member of the Conservative club and we played in there. They had a framed IDS photo behind the bar :dread:

Their surnames are Reid and Whittingham. Hope that helps you firm up the violent power fantasy in your head for you!
