Tokyo's Sky Tree celebrated its topping off at the weekend and is now the tallest structure of its type in the world.

Looks sweet as hell at night too

I know that alot of high end architects will actually sue construction firms if their build quality isn't up to the design standard.

Architects are wankers.

[/civil engineer]

(Of course, from a professional standpoint I should point out that they are invaluable and I am unable to do the work they do on buildings. But - although this may be because Cardiff University's architects are notorious for bullshitting constantly - they are wankers)

 I (sort of) know quite a few people who do architecture at Cardiff. Do you ever have to work with them at all?

 I lived with one in first year, lovely girl but she didn't half have to do arty bullshit in architecture. Something about the Cardiff school but they seem to attract hippies. My experiences at work are just getting drawings without the necessary information on them, but I won't be working with any in my new job :(

I don't get the new King's Cross. :fp:

At least there is talk of a redevelopment of Euston and possible reconstruction of the arch.

Euston is such a depressing building, a bad start to a visit to London. Compared to St Pancras just down the road everything looks a bit shitty

Yep. And to think there were plans to demolish St Pancras and replace it with a super-cool modern station. :fp:

Anyone know the plans for Birmingham New Street Station?

Wow, that's pretty cool. Existing station looks like a '70s dump so I say go for it. :)

It's not a new building, in fact it no longer even stands today; it only today features in nursery rhymes and history books. As far as I know there are no plans or even thoughts to bring it back, but I would rather like to see the old London Bridge be rebuilt and adapted to cope with today's river traffic.

It wouldn't serve any great transportation need, but it would serve as another tourist attraction for the city and it'd look bloody amazing too.

Anyone else think that a city skyline with two or three buildings that dwarf the other skyscrapers just looks stupid?

I don't want to think what Shanghai would be like if it had a lot more skyscrapers the size of those largest ones there.

Maybe like this...
