Hmmn... this puts me off - I think I'll stick with my ShopTo order.

What's the difference? Surely it'd still be in english and connect to the same servers - certainly see a lot of euro-people in Mario Kart etc.

How much was it at ShopTo? The code at TGC expires tonight and it's free to pre-order so you can just cancel it if TGC can't give a definitive answer ahead of launch. I just sent an email asking for clarification.

Trelliz, I think you and I have established that we're at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to videogame packaging :-).

It's literally just the box art. The European copies have big USK logos on them while the UK ones don't.

When it comes to LEs, Nintendo produces one SKU for the whole of Europe. I had trouble at GAME when trading in the copy of Smash Bros that came with my GameCube controller because the cashier thought that it was an import. She put it through without a problem once she spoke to her manager who told her that it was from the special edition and that she should just scan a box from the stock behind the till.

Just pre-ordered from Nintendo store. £49.99 for the Squid Amiibo bundle + a pretty cool Splatoon TShirt. Even though I will probably never wear it it will probably have some resale value :)

If you ordered the t-shirt, you should have to wear it during Splatoon Sundays™

Unfortunately it's not just the USK logo; the Euro boxes (and the Limited Edition versions) have mult-lingual writing on the back of the box, too - usually necessitating the screenshots to be squashed. Zelda Windwaker on the U is a god example. Even worse were the Wii Limited Editions. Witness The Last Story and Zelda Skyward; the LE editions were lovely but the manuals were thick multi-lingual books whilst the standard edition manuals were just in English.

For nearly everyone it'd probably be a better idea to go for the cheaper option as they won't mind; but I do prefer the UK specific versions.

FAKE EDIT: I'm not usually free on Sundays. I will only be an occasional visitor to Splatoon Sundays™ :-(.

I just realised that I'm at a wedding the day after this comes out but hopefully I'll be back in time for the inaugural Splatoon Sunday.

We should make it bi-weekly, like Mario Kart, with the main even on Sunday and an alternate evening of Splatoon gaming for fun. Thursday or Tuesday Turmoil? Wacky Wednesday?

Is this predominantly an online multiplayer title?

Pretty much so, gamer. There is a single player element but it plays differently to the main game and it doesn't sound too hot. I think it's best to think of it as multi-player shooter.

Ah I see - I guess that explains the lower pricepoint.

Where have you heard that the SP mode is lacking? I haven't seen anything since the previews a few weeks back and they didn't seem too negative about it.

As I understand it, the SP mode is more of a first person platformer with environmental puzzles. Disappointing if it's not up to scratch.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

I guess time will tell. Does seem like it will be online focused, with some of the coverage shown so far.

The single player reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy. I hope it's about 5 hours or more.

It's like Galaxy meets Sunshine meets deBlob.

It's been multiplayer focused from the moment it was announced. At first Nintendo wouldn't comment on single player content. I think the solo stuff will start out as a good tutorial for your skills and then be something to dip in and out of in between online battles.

I would have been very cautious about this but Mario Kart nights have been so good that I'm certain we can get a community going.

I think that the co-op aspect will help this be more like Mario Kart than Smash Bros on here. I'm really only interested in the multiplayer, like Mario Kart and Smash Bros, so I'll always be up for some games.

I'm excited!

I am also in via Game Collection.

I'm excited!
