Well, it looks pretty good to me…. if not the level of the first 10 minutes of the Bumblebee film.

I'm not sure how I feel about the Transformers One trailer.

In isolation it looks like it could be decent and may reinvent the franchise for a new audience etc

But I just wish it was in the style of the scene from Bumblebee and set in the war on Cybertron.

There's something "off" about it for me. Compared to other recent animated movies it just seems a bit cheap and uninspired. The plot looks to be the most generic stuff they could have come up with and I feel I know exactly what's going to happen already.

I'll probably still watch it at some point but it's not one I'll be hotly anticipating.

Yeah I kno exactly what you mean. It's Paramount so they are struggling financially so likely cost cutting. Turtles on the other hand had a much better look about it.

Unicron on the big screen, you got the touch blasting out as prime arrives, the cinema silent as prime hands over tha matrix of leadership. :datass:

Creatively bankrupt

EDIT: What are studios going to do in another 20 years? There's nothing new to be nostalgic about in the future.

To be fair, Disney's very first feature length movie was based on a story from 1812.

A lot of the franchises right now that have momentum - even after several installments - are either proven IP that hadn't yet been a movie (Sonic, Barbie, Five Nights at Freddies) or something entirely original (John Wick, Ti West's X series). Last year the last F&F and Mission Impossible instalments stalled because Gen Z audiences don't want IP hand-me-downs - the eight installment of something, the reboot of something their Dad saw in the 1990s. And it seems the constant failed attempts to rework royalty-free IP like Robin Hood and Peter Pan have finally stopped.

It'll take a few years to see the fruits of 2023 at the box office. Still, video games are beginning to be treated seriously and the Super Mario movie grossing over a billion dollars will have not gone unnoticed. I think you'll see a lot more new-to-cinema IP from video games and then further down the line, anime. Someone will crack live-action Western anime adaptations and the floodgates will open there.

spoilers for the Full Film

I thought we were passed full movie plots and every scene in the trailer. But they decided to have it all in order in the trailer. Very strange choice. Looks great, despite the lack of surprises.
