I had a good run, and had intended to get into the swing of things starting with this next day. I wonder if that Zadok shot me? Or maybe Mary Fay? They both seemed insistent on gunning for me on flimsy evidence.

Spectator thread bonus info:

You were killed by Nyarlathotep. For every kill he does up to a maximum of 5, I enforce a handicap on his posting. If he does 5 kills his account name gets changed to Nyarlathotep. Which is basically a death sentence.

This is a really cool mechanic. I am glad he wasted a kill on me when the vamps would have had me anyway.

This is only my second game on the forum and I'm sure others have said the same many times before, but I love the thought and planning that goes in to running them. I'm sure it's pretty time consuming, so hands up to you!

I tried to appear as an experienced player (I even deliberately used the term wolves a few times), but my questioning did perhaps put me on the radar. Who knows, I'm still curious to see why Will picked me, especially if the note was a lie.

Edit. Glad to see that my links to everyones posting history is being actively used in the thread. It's nice to have been able to contribute despite leaving early on. In the last game I was tracking voting records for the Conformists and would have taken a similar approach in this game if I survived.

Morning all,

Just catching up, and firstly thanks to The Count for his understanding and assistance, and thank you to the peeps in here who helped with creating a reasonable penalty.

To try and explain what happened, and making absolutely no excuses for my car crash of a performance.

- I was Ben Mears and given the Insomniac role, whereupon I could see if someone used a special ability at night, but not what that ability was. (I didn't realise this would confirm to be human as thought Vampire kill would also show as a night ability)
- I was super excited as never had a special role before
- My first screwup was using a fake email for the account creation, I hadn't realised it would need activating. I then had to create another account under Ben Mearz
- I scanned Will Rogers the first night and came up negative, no drama
- 2nd Night I scanned Susanna Norton, this came up as Positive. Super excitement. I didn't know if this meant she was a Vamp or a Villager but knew something was up, especially as she was extremely active in the game.
- I PM'd Susanna pretending I knew what her ability was that she had used it, in the hope she would spill the beans (at this point she was up for lynch). I had completely forgotten about the no PM rule, and thought it only applied to sharing your role PM (my second screwup)
- When The Count told me I had broken the rules, I thought Susanna had some special role that was screwing with me. It was only then I realised my mistake.
- I was mortified, as would never try and purposely cheat in a game like this, so said I would absolutely accept whatever punishment was given.
- The Count and you dead guys discussed the punishment and kindly offered me the 2nd chance but without my power. Which seemed more than fair as was fully expecting to get killed. I was super worried though that people may question the validity of the action and call the game into disrepute. I was also concerned that if I didn't continue It could be percieved that I didn't want to play as no longer had a role (/catch22)
- The Count then stated that Ben had to leave due to personal reasons. What then followed was a couple of pages of posters showing their concern and hoping everything was OK with Ben. This made me feel even worse, although does show what a nice community we have here.
- I spoke to The Count and expressed my concern, but he was happy for me to continue and said he would assure people I was ok in the thread
- I then tried to create the new account (Laura Renfield), but my work email blocked the registration email. (My 3rd Screw up) I could no longer use this account as it was created but not registered.
- The Count asked me what the issue was and by this point I just had to hold my hands up and admit I was more trouble than I was worth, and probably best if I am just booted from the game (I’m also suffering from my Booster jab so not sure how much I could assist/partake).

Really annoyed with my performance, especially after getting a role after what is probably more than 20 games as a villager. But to be honest my main annoyance/concern was that I had potentially ruined the game for anybody else.

Anyway, that’s my sorry tale. I don’t think it has actually had any real impact on the game, and will continue watching with great interest.

and one last thing to consider for future games.

As a mod I do have some tools which show me when people are online even if they are hidden, as well as what they are doing. I took great care to not look at the bottom of the front page, and It's one of the reasons I didn't hide my status . I can also see who people's alternative accounts are if I chose to look (I wouldn't and didn't). But think for future games it would be best if mods are demodded for the duration as you could accidentially uncover something you shouldn't just by doing your daily jobs around the forum.

I've had two and bit whole pages of PMs received to my inbox since Sunday, I've sent 2 pages of PMs. Fortuitously I had to take Monday and Tuesday this week off work because I had loads of holidays I had to use.

Makes me think Katy Druitt and Calvin Poole may be vamps - Calvin in particular pops up regularly enough to be present but not enough to be noticeable, and there appears to be a rhythm to his appearances (no long periods of absence followed by sustained posting) which is classic vamp behaviour. Katy I still reckon is Drumstick but if he's speculating with you via PM who he reckons is who, maybe he doesn't also have time to be part of a vampire PM circle which leads me to this early and audacious hypothesis:
