I can drop out if you want to try again? Makes it fair

It's.okay, don't worry about it. The wife is making the eyes at me, though I know that just means she wants to watch something on Netflix.

A quick Google seems to suggest that this error comes up a lot when joining on a friend?

It really helps make the race competitive when the player in second place refuses to attack the person in first.

Yeah I managed to get in for the last two (as soon as I told her to fire up Netflix). I'll hopefully have more luck next week and will join a bit earlier for the full sesh.

Was great to play MK8 again. Put quite a bit of time into the Wii U version, then bought the Switch one in Japan and didn't play it much, as it was all stuff I'd played before. The tracks and playing it with you lot will give it a new lease of life.

Not too early apparently...

Cheers for the races and chatter gang  Was great to put voices to names. Aaron is a much swearier chap than that nice young man I once saw in a video series about a trip to Japan. I've seen Pedz on Twitch before (retro nights IIRC) and he was exactly as sweary as I expected. Enjoyed Qikz not actually realising that I'm me.

I appreciate it can sometimes be odd when an established group gets some random new person suddenly joining and involving themselves, but you all made me feel very welcome. I'm presuming the constant barrage of items was intended as welcoming, yes?

See you again next week :toot:

That was a terrific opening night for the return of Mario Kart Monday! Thanks for popping by, everyone, and I hope you enjoyed it. Hopefully the event will remain popular over the coming months, especially as extra tracks get added into the game :-).

Great games guys! Some classic finishes and Mario Kart fuckerry which I was on the business end of more times than I'd prefer but hey - Welcome to Mario Kart!

It was an absolute riot. Can't wait for more. And I stand by what I said. I will play next week using the standard ATV.

It was indeed great to have a lot of people in the voice chat. I wouldn't say you're a random new person. No matter whether through voice or text, we've known you long enough that it's easy to fit in. Though I do appreciate the fact there's definitely differences between voice and text. Besides, we're a welcoming bunch. We'd take anyone in.

I get the feeling this is aimed at me. And it's true. I do like to keep things a bit more competitive up front, so will hold items back for defence rather than attack. Mostly.

When you're in 2nd it's too easy to drop into the chaos. Nobody wants that lol

I was as chronic as I expected. My highlight was on the clock track when everything seemed to go quiet and I realised I was on the last lap in 3rd.
Needless to say I panicked and came 9th.
Great fun though.

I think you're right, Jezo - I think that the game can be tougher when you're in the middle/back of the pack! A few times on the track last night I was getting absolutely battered by shells and bullet bills when I was 9th or something :x  . Then again, in one race I was doing pony and I activated a bullet bill to somehow finish 4th so that was okay!

I'd kinda forgotten what a good-looking game this is, too. The 1080p is crisp but it's the camera angles and the multitude of touches like sparks and shine that really make it.

I'm surprised we didn't randomly get baby park, mind that would have been the most chaotic race ever
