Just finished Turning Point: The bomb and the Cold War.

A fantastic documentary series about how Russia got to where it is today.
It's 9 hour-long episodes and I was kept interested throughout.

and easy 9/10 with the only slight downside being the lack of mention at the end of UK supplies to Ukraine or the poisoning of a Russian national as a direct hit by the Russian state in London by a radioactive substance.

Masters of The Air - 8/10

A bit slow to start but from epi 3 onwards was great stuff. Not ''Band of Brothers' levels of excellent but far far better than the Pacific.

Anyone else watched it?

Me and dmin reviewed it a couple of pages back. Similar thoughts to you really.

Kin (co-starring the Aviva Stadium) - 9/10

Gritty and pretty violent Irish crime drama set in Dublin, really bloody good with a great cast and unpredictable storyline.

Thought it was really good. Bit too much MURCA FUK YEAAAAH in places but then it's told from a US point of view so to be expected. The intro gives massive spoilers away for the entire thing though, one of the final shots of the whole series is in it

Yeah, I also really enjoyed. As others have said, the start was a little slow-going, and there was little character development, but it kicked on from episode 3. It was certainly very "yay America!", but not quite as bad as it could have been. It also managed to add in a few scenes about the "arrogant and useless Brits" that seems to be a theme in these types of WW2 series . Still, a very good show. It's not a patch on Band of Brothers (few things are), but I'd put it up there with The Pacific. I'd probably also give it an 8/10.

If you haven't seen it, I'd also suggest watching The Greyhound, which is also on Apple. It's about a battleship's single crossing of the Atlantic while protecting other vessels from U-Boats. It's quite tense and exciting, and I think less than 2 hours, which is always nice for a new film.

Yeah the American shows do often stick a middle finger up to the Brits, although my experience of RAF pilots isn't too far off xD

They always have to get a dig in somehow. Saving Private Ryan also did it with some dialogue about the British Army.

Apart from the terrible (and hilariously jingoistic) 'Green Berets' starring John Wayne. Which is so far off-base it's bizarre. Although it seems it was a propaganda movie made during the war, but even so.

Ferry: The Series (Season 1, Netflix) - 7.5/10
Continues on from the Ferry movie, so definitely best watching that first. More on par with the first 2 seasons of Undercover, this is the story of how Ferry became Ferry. Frank Lammers and Elise Schaap are both excellent in this. Looking forward to Ferry 2 at some point later this year.

3 Body Problem

Binged this as though I was 22 years old again. Much more enjoyable than it deserves to be. Moves very quickly, so doesn't get bogged down in anything (which is a blessing and a curse), and gets away with doing pretty much whatever it wants by virtue of the absurd-but-entertaining plot.

Feud (Disney+ | 2017)

This series of eight episodes tells the tale of Joan Crawford (played by Jessica Lange) and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) in the latter stages of their lives. Each had been huge film stars although, due to a combination of bad treatment by film companies and their own somewhat difficult personalities, their careers nosedived as they aged. It was sad to see the decline and also to be reminded that, even though you can be flying high, time moves on and things can and do change.

I was engrossed throughout even though the pace was fairly slow. It was interesting to learn a little about these past stars. [6]

3 Body Problem - Netflix - 9/10

I went into this with low expectations to be honest, after how poor the latter seasons of GoT ended up, I wasn't expecting good things from D&D again, but I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe shows they are solid directors to adapt material, but once they've run out of the source material, they haven't got much to back them up. Back to the series though, I've no idea how faithfully it adapts the novels, but I thought it was fantastic overall. A great main cast of characters, a very interesting sci fi story thats told with a very quick pace to it, a few great set pieces/events in there as well, one in particular was quite weird to watch really.

No idea if it's been renewed for a second series, but I think series 1 is book one? So hopefully there is series 2 and 3 given the go ahead straight away.

So far they've covered book 1 and some bits of books 2 and 3 where they have rejigged things for the adaptation. I don't think there has been any news on its renewal yet, I think it was really expensive but fingers crossed they get to complete the trilogy.

The Last Of Us

I'm not familiar with the games so I don't know how faithful this was, but I rather enjoyed this. Entertaining and well paced, with a couple of surprising turns along the way. I particularly enjoyed some of the backstory detours, which made the world feel more believable. Some shonky CG threatened to ruin the immersion a little, but it didn't spoil the experience too much.

Silo - Season 1 - 9/10

Throughly enjoyed this. It oddly reminded me of the first few seasons of Lost, lots of mysteries that keep you guessing and intrigued. Only with the main mystery here being what's outside of the hatch, rather than what's inside of it.

Good news, it's been renewed for a fifth season and they are going to do a spin off show based around the Russians.
