You've prob seen a lot of the stuff I've watched recently! Two I'd be pretty sure you haven't - Undercover (Netflix) and Guilt (BBC). Try those.

Assume you've seen Tokyo Vice? Also, if you can find The Deuce somewhere, it's excellent.

I think I might delve into Constellation or True Detective (season 4) next.

Narcos - Seasons 1 and 2 (2015/2016 | Netflix)

I didn't know the story of Colombian Pablo Escobar and his drugs empire. This was a gripping tale and surprising at times, too; the money involved was incredible and the violence was ruthless. I didn't feel the need to watch the third season but the first two were great, albeit often harrowing, entertainment. [8]

3 Body Problem - Season 1 (2024 | Netflix)

An incredibly odd series; at first it didn't quite gel with me but I'm glad that I stuck with it as I soon became engrossed. There are such a range of characters and unusual situations that I sometimes found it challenging to follow. I very much enjoyed it although I suspect that, rather like the terrific Lost series, the journey will be more enjoyable than the ending and there may not be many answers. Regardless, an excellent first season. [8]

 .

1 and 2 were very good but I think that season 3 focuses on some of the other drug lords?
I may well watch it in the near future but the ending of season 2 seemed like a good point to take a break. I also wanted to give 3 Body Problem a watch!

S3 is just as good as S1 and S2, maybe even better.

Ozark series 1 - 9/10

Excellent stuff. Like breaking bad but with money laundering.

Ozark is a great series; as you say, it has the feel of Breaking Bad. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ted Lasso - S3 - 9/10

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series and thought the final season was a good pay off. It's far from perfect, but is just so wholesome and feel good that it's easy to ignore all the flaws.

I especially enjoyed in the finale that they failed to win the league. It was so obvious it was going to end in triumph, that it was great they were runners up.

Funny you should mention this, i'm now 4 episodes into season 1 and am really enjoying it.

This is unusual but I'm going to share brief thoughts about a series before I've actually finished it.

Ripley (2024 | Netflix)

+ Wonderful black and white presentation
+ Rich, sensuous environments and backdrops
+ An intriguing plot with interesting performances
- This is The Talented Mr Ripley remade and dragged out over eight (8!) episodes. I'm not sure I can hack it and I'm only half-way through!

Provisional scoring:
If you haven't seen The Talented Mr Ripley [8]
If you have seen The Talented Mr Ripley [4]

I thought it was an Alien TV show.

...I was wrong.

Yes, we've seen pretty much the same story before in Talented. But this deserves more then to be spoken of as simply a "remake". I have now seen episodes 4 and 5 and I cannot over-emphasise the quality of the sets and the filming. There are so many scenes where one could pause and just gaze at the splendour; the dial on the radio, the glint of the ashtray, the leather on the seat, the light from the window... the blood on the bath.

Three eps to go and I can't wait to see more.

...and completed.

Ripley (2024 | Netflix)

Excellent. One could pick holes in the plot and, yes, it might be said that it is rather slow. However, the filming and presentation is just irresistible throughout. [8]

Peter Crisp wrote:Halo series 2.

I don't care what anyone says, I really liked this and the set-up for series 3 is great.

The stuff on the Halo itself looks like it'll be good enough but the battle in space is still yet to be resolved and the infection at the base of operations needs sorting. It sometimes annoys me that fans can't just let this series be its own thing and go in a different direction as this story is as good as the story of the games.

I really hope we get series 3 as series 2 was a 9/10 from me :toot: .

Mostly mirrors my feelings as well.

8/10 for me. Better than the first season. Though some small niggles pull it down for me.

I was expecting the fall of Reach to be the whole season. I assumed the second half was going to be Reach under siege, culminating in the Covenant glassing the planet and Chief escaping on the Pillar of Autumn with Cortana.

But most of the changes I didn't mind. As you said, this isn't the game and I'm happy for them to diverge from the finer details of the established storyline a bit.
That said, I'm not sure how I feel about them bringing the Flood into the show as early as this. I really do wish they had stuck to the game for that and had them show up half-way through the next season.
But they look great and I'm even more interested to see hordes of them. The bit where you saw one of the small parasites shoot up into someones eye socket. :dread:

I still didn't care in the slightest for Quan Ha and her storyline. When she showed up at the end of episode 1 it was definitely a case of "Oh yeah, she exists".
Same for Soren and his family. That whole second half plot where they were looking for his kid should have been cut entirely and replaced with something more relevant. Again, I would have liked to have seen more of the Fall of Reach, but I guess the budget can only do so much.

I loved the conversation at the end, but I really wasn't sure who it was going to be. Logically I figured it was going to be 343 Guilty Spark, but the dialogue reminded me more of Gravemind.
Either way I'm glad we're finally on Halo. It'll be interesting to see where it goes from there.

The story is amazing and all the characters are just great.
Easily worth the cost of Apple TV+ on it's own and an easy 10/10.

Just magnificent and perfect Sci-Fi.

I've just finished season 4 and would like to echo this post. It's a strawberry floating brilliant show.

It doesn't look like they've confirmed a season 5 yet. I'll be furious if this show doesn't continue.
