Partly because I clicked with the game moments before it and also because I *really* enjoyed taking those strawberry floaters out (over and over again). Especially the one Joel runs up to and clobbers  I pressed the melee button extra hard on that one. Get the strawberry float off her :x :x :x *BASH*

Yeah the melee in this is quite good isn't it. :datass: I liked the bit in he car leading up to tht to. With the magazine

Try stunning with a bottle then sprint melee with metal pipe. I shudder when it connects then Ellie spouts "Jesus Joel..." Disapprovingly.

The hotel bit...is far, far to tense for my liking, I'm tooled up, I've got bombs, smoke bombs, medi kits, plenty of shotgun ammo. And I'm still shitting myself. :dread:

This is my game of the year. Easily.

I'm also a tiny but stuck.

I'm looking for the key card after falling down the elevator? I've killed the infected that appeared. Still can't find it..any pointers?

It's in an upstairs office with a computer on the desk. Not far from the room with hole in the floor

Just come out of the hotel...the bit where he gives her a gun...there's something about the scene, it really is like watching a good movie unfold..and whoever said I am legend is almost spot on..the graphics are better than anything I've seen

To me it feels like a mix of "I am legend" in terms of environment and "the road" in terms of bleakness and desperation and the journey they take. With a bit of "book of Eli" thrown in around the bandits and fighting.

Stopped again for the night. My % is only showing 51  so I'm pleased with that  just..met up with that dude and his brother.

I like the way they are dividing the screen time between humans and infected quite well. I don't like the humans so I tend to gun them down :datass: but the infected are much more dangerous...so it's almost a perfect blend of stealth and action. Plus a crazy amount of tension. :dread:

The variation was nice but by the end I felt there was too much focus on human enemies. I preferred the tension of the infected. Clickers :dread:

Really? I thought the humans are much more tougher, giving they can SEE you.

Tougher yes but less tense. It felt too similar to uncharted during human enemy sections. Cover based shooting has been done to death.

The infected were a lot more creepy as one wrong move and they rush you. Nothing more frightening than having no shivs and seeing a clicker run at you amidst several infected. Picking your shots becomes vital in the chaos.

I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the "winter" segment. That was my favourite by a long stretch.

Just started the fall section.

Ellie is a magical creation. She is just like a 14 year old kid. The relationship between the two is amazing. More so than bioshock.

This is one game where emotion plays a genuine role and I felt a real bond for the characters.
when you finish it It's like finishing a good book which is a genuine shock.

Not many games have this much punch.

I was excited for the next gen but this game single handedly reminded me just what good story telling and gameplay can achieve. If the next gen is half as good as this I will be well happy and I would even double dip which is something I thought I'd never even contemplate.l

The quality of game story and writing has been this generations best improvement. The likes of bioshock, walking dead, spec ops the line, last of us etc prove that games can be more than just mechanics strung together under limited context.

The line between game and film is getting closer but to the strengths of each. Last of us is a perfect blend of solid gameplay and fascinating story.
