A friend of mine hated this, yet i really enjoyed it, yes it's a slow burner to begin with, but that ending was just incredible (especially when you consider it was based on what actually happened).

Yeah the soundtrack was decent if you like 80s tunes.

In Bruges (2008) - *****
Loved this. Hilarious and often very clever dialogue, and the three leads are brilliant.

Annie Hall (1977) - ***
I really wanted to like this more than I did. It's alright, but by the last third or so I was ready for it to be over. I feel like it might have been ahead of its time when it was released, but viewed with modern eyes, I didn't find it particularly special. Allen is clearly well-read judging by most of the jokes, but by the end, the volume of them made the film feel like, in Alvy's own words, an exercise in mental masturbation. Maybe that was the point, I don't know.

Big Trouble in Little China (1986) - ****
I was aware of certain scenes from this film before, but this was my first viewing in full and I really enjoyed it. A fun, campy action film delivered in a way only Carpenter can pull off. Kurt Russell is great and so is the score.

To Kill A Mockingbird (1962) - ***
Not as good as the book, which I finished just a day before watching it, but obviously compromises had to be made to condense it to 2 hours. Some of those compromises make the ending's impact feel less earned than in the novel, but it's a solid adaptation overall. Gregory Peck's performance as Atticus is the highlight, of course, and applause is deserved for the casting of the children who aren't as insufferable as they easily could have been.

Mad Max (1979) - **
Wasn't fussed on this, just felt amateurish in a lot of ways. I've always heard it touted as a revenge film, but that's only the case for the last 15-20 minutes. It definitely picks up during that final stretch, but the majority of everything preceding it was pretty dull. I was surprised at how well done many of the stunts and crashes were though, that strawberry floating guy who gets whacked right in the bonce by the bike near the end.

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981) - ****
This was more like it, I can see why it's lauded as one of the best 80s action films, and continually recognised how influential it has been to games and films as it went on. Max's character shift to that of a more or less silent, self-serving protagonist was a welcome one too. That car and dog are strawberry floating rrrrrrad.

Han Solo - 8/10. Excellent, very enjoyable.

Watched this again with my son the other night, such a brilliant film and quite possibly Peak Pixar for me personally. Really concerned they're going to strawberry float things up by making the sequel...

Han Solo - 7/10 - An enjoyable film as Star wars films always are. Better than Episode VIII I think.

I watched this really entertaining film last week but I've forgotten the name. It starred a young Harrison Ford and he was flying about space with this big brown teddy bear thing trying to kill this bloke with a shiny black helmet and a sore throat. It was actually pretty cool,I'm going to look into it to see if they made any sequels to it.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) - *
Absolute wank. It starts off promising enough and I thought surely the rest couldn't possibly be bad enough to drop it below two or maybe even three stars... how wrong I was! Everything after the Thunderdome fight is a tremendous slog and I found myself actively hating the film, which is a rarity for me. Not even the final chase could salvage any of the remains as I was not even slightly invested in that bollocks Captain Walker tribe pulling through, in fact I was hoping they would all die in the most horrible fashion. This film is gooseberry fool. It's strawberry floating gooseberry fool.

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) - *****
This film is the gooseberry fool. It's the strawberry floating gooseberry fool. I had high expectations and it surpassed them all, one of the best action films I've ever seen.

Goodfellas.

Still the greatest gangster movie ever made to my mind.

I was talking to my brothers about these movies a few days ago, that setup a rewatch. Goddamn, First Blood is strawberry floating good. Trautman

Should have listened to Horatio.

Movie Students and Taf will love it.

First Blood makes a mockery of all the Rambo films that came after it, it’s on a completely different level.

A lot of it has to do with it following the book to a degree. The book itself is pretty brutal with some major changes made in the film.
