Nice! What size did you go for at the end?

My C2 is brilliant! I think I chose the right TV. The OLED screen is so crispy and sharp compared with my old 4K TV which has an LCD. Also, I tweaked a bit with the settings and I turned off the Eco as it made the picture a bit dull. Now it looks vibrant and colorful.

Also, God of War Ragnarok. it looks amazing and I have more choices with the graphics option like 4K/40fps, or framerate unlocked like 120fps for Modern Warfare II.

The interface is so sleek and nippy. It is easy to use as well. I will watch a film on either Amazon Prime or Disney+ this week to see how good it is.

I'm happy with it. :msgreen:

I ended up ordering the sp9y or whatever it is - the allure of being half price plus matching the tv was too much to bear - will report when it’s all in

Z3 Series (8K)

77'', 88''
a9 AI processor 8K Gen6
ATSC 3.0 tuner (USA)
5-year 'super warranty'

G3 Series

ATSC 3.0 tuner (USA)
5-year 'super warranty'

C3 Series

42'', 48'', 55'', 65'', 77'', and 83''
a9 AI processor 4K Gen6
Brightness Booster (55'', 65'', 77'', 83'' models only)
Composite fiber material

B3 Series

55'', 65'', and 77''
a7 AI processor 4K Gen6

- Brightness Booster Max, exclusive to the G3 “Gallery” line, ups peak light output 70% over conventional OLED models, using a combination of hardware and a new light boosting algorithm.

- The Z3, G3, and C3 sets will all have OLED Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro, a new feature that intelligently distributes brightness and color mapping over 20 blocks. They will also have the new HDR Expression Enhancer, a feature that provides object-based tone mapping, along with object-based sharpness enhancing. AI Super Upscaling with genre and scene detection will be found across all models, which are now specced for 100% DCI-P3 colour volume coverage.

- All models feature 120Hz, VRR, FreeSync Premium, and Nvidia G-Sync for video game players. The top three series all also come with four HDMI 2.1 ports, while the entry-level B2 series will have two HDMI 2.1 ports.

- Quick Media Switching VRR (QMS-VRR) certification means that for the first time the momentary black screen that occurs when switching between different HDMI-connected sources has been eliminated.

- LG’s G3 and C3 models will be lighter than their predecessors thanks to a new composite fibre material used for the panel housing. The decor-friendly G3 models will also feature a new Zero Gap design that LG says will allow the TV to be “perfectly harmonized with the wall to become one with it.”

- WOW Orchestra allows for smooth integration between an LG soundbar and the TV’s built-in speakers, while WOW Interface lets viewers configure soundbar audio settings on the TV’s screen. The TVs will be capable of making a wireless, lossless audio connection with the company’s soundbars, a feature called WOW Cast.

- The webOS smart TV interface will be seeing a number of changes on LG’s TVs for 2023. LG’s Home hub shows recommended content for individual profiles, which can now be customized with avatars. Support for the Matter smart home standard is being added, and following in the footsteps of Sony in 2022, an optional LG Smart Cam will be available to work with fitness and lifestyle apps.

- Built-in mics for hands-free voice control across Z, G, and C series models, and LG’s multi-view feature is being enhanced to support inputs from multiple HDMI sources. Setup features in the new TVs will include a personalized Picture Wizard that uses AI deep learning technology that will adapt to your preferences. This will involve six steps where you select aspects of different onscreen images, and the TV will then analyze that information and apply it to picture presets.

They have missed a trick not releasing a smaller version of the C3 (C2) I reckon.

I bought a 42" C2 over Christmas and absolutely love it. I upgraded from a 27" IPS 60hz non HDR monitor and the difference in OLED HDR at 120hz is amazing. The colour, contrast and brightness etc is just mind blowing. Was playing Alien Isolation last night and there are parts where I just stop and stare at it.

42" is large for a monitor, so you want at least 60cm viewing distance, but it's so immersive. If they released a 32" model it would get snapped right up.

Also, really liking the OS on it. It's my first LG and think it has the best OS I've used on a TV/Monitor.

LG's new soundbar line-up for 2023, and a welcome firmware update for those with 2022 models:

SC95

3.1.3 audio designed to complement the C-series OLED TVs. The new model sits on a bracket that can be attached to the back of any LG C-series TV, meaning the bar will now look like an integrated part of the display.

IMAX Enhanced

S77S

Slimline 3.1.3, 400W model, boasting many of the same the features as the SC9S, but without the C-series integration.

SE6S

A smaller budget 3.0 system, the latest edition to LG’s Éclair range.

- ‘WOW Orchestra', which lets the soundbar play in synchronisation with LG TV's internal speakers, boosting audio capabilities.

- an up-mixer that LG claims can convert a standard two-channel stereo audio track into a 9.1.5 channel mix.

- 4K 120Hz VRR passthrough support, allowing you to connect a PS5 or Xbox Series X directly to the soundbar's HDMI input without losing either console’s high-framerate capabilities.

- Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support.

- S95QR, S90QY, S80QR, S80QY, and S75Q 2022 soundbars will receive WOW Orchestra & 4K/120Hz passthrough via a software update TBA 2023.

You went LG in the end? I thought you went Sony for some reason.

Mate, honestly, they're really good. :toot:

Been researching since the start of the year and everything pointed towards the C2 or the AW34 Alienware. Both great monitors but think the added screen real estate of the C2 pushes it ahead. Also, really good value.

Only downside so far I've noticed is the lack of Displayports. Had to fork out on expensive HDMI Cable (£30) to allow me to have 4k120.

i was very close to going for the bravia as afaik they use the lg panel and the prices shaped out the same but in the end chickened out as i didnt see any real compelling reason to change - the sony demo set looked better in the shop than the lg one though, marginally

ive got an old hd sony bravia as my main tv now and tbh its still great, just the lack of all the modern features keeping it down now

Samsung's turn at CES:

At CES 2023, Samsung has decided to focus on software refinements rather than any major hardware upgrade for their new TV lines, centered around AI and enhanced picture processing.

Samsung Neo QLEDs for 2023 will feature a new Auto HDR Remastering feature that “uses AI deep learning technology to analyze and apply real-time high dynamic range (HDR) effects on standard dynamic range (SDR) content on a scene-by-scene basis, making SDR content brighter and livelier for absolute immersion.” The system compares SDR content with HDR material and uses deep learning to analyze the differences and then make the conversion.

On the hardware side, Samsung has quadrupled the number of dimming blocks across its Mini LED range and will now use 14-bit processing to enhance shading gradation and reduce compression artifacts, bringing out more detail in various scenes, especially dark ones, with the company saying it has virtually eliminated blooming. On premium models, VRR will be present all the way up to 144Hz, pleasing PC gamers.

On the downside, Samsung has again opted to forgo Dolby Vision HDR support across its entire portfolio, which is likely to be a sticking point for many movie and streaming fans.

MicroLED CX

Samsung are presenting a glimpse into the future for many at CES, with the new 76-inch MicroLED CX, billed as “the world’s smallest and most affordable MicroLED screen.” MicroLED has many of the benefits of OLED but without the downsides (dimmer picture, virtually no chance of burn-in over sustained use, longer lifespan).

"Between its unmatched screen performance and advanced technologies, MicroLED CX heralds a brighter, more luxurious future for consumer televisions. Additionally, its 20-bit black detail, 240Hz variable refresh rates, and 2-nanosecond response time solidify the 76-inch MicroLED CX’s display as the gold standard of picture quality, no matter what you’re watching or playing."

The TV will be available later in the year, but even with a new price point is unlikely to be affordable for the majority of buyers.

The Frame

Building on 2022 and their new antiglare matte finish, the company says there are new metal bezel options “and more realistic wood finishes” for those that like to make their TV screen look like a piece of art. An “automatic rotating mount will allow for landscape or portrait display of art.” will be offered separately.

New Apps, NFTs and Software

The Art Store: With access to over 2,500 pieces curated by world class galleries, The Art Store allows users to customize the screen to their personal taste. In 2023, the Art Store 2.0 will feature a more user-friendly on-screen experience. Samsung has partnered with the world’s leading NFT marketplaces to deliver this unique content in new ways. The new NFT platform delivers a diverse selection of carefully curated NFTs and the new UI even features events promoted by Samsung partners and feature more than 1,000 artists. Finally, with 8K NFTs over-indexing among purchasers of NFTs, Samsung partnered with Savage, a leading provider to deliver art in stunning 8K resolution.

Relumino Mode: The first technology that empowers people with low vision to enjoy their favorite shows, movies, and games without needing wearable hardware. With the click of a remote, Relumino, which translates from Latin to “return the light,” enables televisions to use Samsung-developed artificial intelligence to dynamically outline the edges of on-screen elements and rebalance colors. This enables virtually anyone to better see people, objects, and text.

Health Monitor: Samsung’s first TV-based health monitoring service. Built for the latest Neo QLED TV, OLED TVs, and Smart Monitors, Samsung’s new in-home health monitoring technology leverages an optional attachable camera to offer users the ability to monitor their own health without invasive physical diagnostics. Samsung’s camera analysis measures five key vital signs – heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and stress index – all from your couch. It does this by using remote photoplethysmography (rPPG), an intelligent computer vision technology that assesses vital signs by detecting changes in facial skin color caused by heartbeats.

The system is opt-in, contactless, accurate and easy to use.

Samsung Telemedicine: Samsung Telemedicine is a new application developed specifically for our smart TVs and engineered to make big-screen telemedicine appointments simple for those seeking at-home medical care. Users can select from a list of symptoms, indicate how long they’ve been present, and the app will show relevant available doctors. A doctor will generally connect within 60 seconds, then conduct an exam through video conferencing via the app and with devices such as a Samsung Galaxy Watch or other devices. Once the exam is complete, users can rate their experience, schedule a follow-up, or fill a prescription remotely and have it delivered directly to their doorstep all via the on-screen app.

Chat Together: Chat Together is the world’s first TV-embedded platform that allows real-time communications while watching live TV. It allows you to easily communicate with people outside the home in real-time. Moreover, the mobile app, available on both Android and iOS, allows users to quickly respond to both TV and mobile platforms using a single interface. The whole connection process is done simply by downloading the mobile app and tapping the BLE pop-up.
