I just use them to swap for other items I need.

Like the gifts from the Gods? I swapped a bottle of Nectar with Cerberus and got a collar in return that boosts my heath, I think it does anyway.

Kind of. You can buy things from the vendor using x amount of keys. I usually trade up until I get nectars or the heart thingies.

Only vender I’ve seen in the starting area is the one in the bar, is that the same one?

Maybe, but a lot lot more stuff opens as you progress. I think that guy gets more options but it may be a new guy!

This really is a great game as it continues to click more, reached the Skeletal Snake type boss which I’m guessing means I was close to getting to the 3rd level of the underworld, admittedly I got there with a handful of health (of which I’d acquired 3, +25 healths on that run taking my total to a potential 150 health which definitely helped) so didn’t get past its second stage where it calls more of itself and gets a shield buff.

Edit, some of the Hammer upgrade for the shield are bonkers, 500% buff for bull rush? Hoping that might help with the skeleton snake at the end of the 2nd level….. It’s early days but if I’m still enjoying it this much come the end of it I reckon Hades 2 might be a day one buy, never thought I’d enjoy a roguelike this much!

Into Elysium, with the buff for the bull rush shield move the second boss was a relative breeze, compared to Meg anyway! Now to see how far into this I can get.

Edit, that didn’t last long then

Think Elysium might be where God Mode gets turned on for myself, getting absolutely battered no matter how well I feel I’ve navigated the previous two realms!

It's definitely a step up. But with the right build becomes much more manageable. Also you start finding the first two levels much easier, so it's less of a pain to get there.

Just failed at the exact same room, third time in a row :fp: went in with over 100 health and still my revive at death and still got battered, too many shielded opponents and one of those annoying purple orbs in the middle throwing butterflies everywhere.

Edit, well it seem like the exact same room? Which I feel is odd for a roguelike? Or is there the odd room that is set regardless?

Elysium is hard, no doubt about it. It's all about experimenting with boons and understanding how they can compliment one other, your weapon and aspect.

Well soon I should be able to finally use some of my darkness to buy some permanent upgrades, been trying to hold off from properly investing till I’ve got them all unlocked, I’ve got the alternatives from Nyx but looking at the guide on the front page of this thread the last ones could be worthwhile investing into, just need 3 more keys to unlock them first. I’ve got a few bought (reflex and death defiance as well as a couple to boost damage to undamaged foes, damage dealt when my health is above 80%). Think I might give it till I’ve got all the upgrades unlocked and spent all my darkness before turning it on. One thing I’ve not even tried is using my cast though, is it worthwhile investing in or not? Just obsessed with lobbing the shield around if I’m honest!

The story in this seems rather good too, the conversations you hear between the fellow NPCs (no idea if they’re all gods or not) are neat, just had one where Nyx was saying to another to not lose faith in me, kind of a neat touch to the player when you constantly get killed

I hardly used casts to start with, but depending on the boons you pick they can become very powerful. As always, experimenting is key.

Finally have all the upgrades for the mirror (well I think I do) and bought a fair few, got one to the max where I do an extra 75% to undamaged foes, going to give it another go before maybe trying God Mode….. Last run I didn’t even make it to Elysium :shifty:

I don’t think I’d be enjoying this so much if it wasn’t for the small progression you make on each run, not just in the learning process of the realms and how enemies attack but the incremental gains you make, it feels like even when you fail you still progress, whereas I get the impression in a typical roguelike its the opposite and its all about getting good, not that this isn’t of course, but I think without the small progression I’d have probably dropped this, regardless of how good the game is.

Double post but oh well, is the Minotaur the boss of Elysium? Got there with God Mode on (also luckily avoided the room that’s killed me the past couple of runs) but it didn’t end well for me  it’s first phase wasn’t too bad really, considering I entered the room with 6 health.

Everyone remembers their first time getting wrecked by the minotaur. And then reaching the actual boss.

I find Hades easier than the Minotaur and the other dude, weirdly.

Forgetting Theseus’s name is pretty hilarious considering the way the dialogue develops in those fights :slol:

I never know the names of characters. It's usually 'you know! The guy...with the thing! That guy!'

Definitely! While it won't go that way every run, having cast as an option should make things easier for you for sure.
