Announcement of the show for me.

It's one of those things that always seemed like it had such little chance of actually happening that to even wish for it felt foolish. Yet, here we are.

I saw this on kotaku this morning. I did get a tad excited.

I've been meaning to go through Grim Fandango again. Going to hold out for the release now.

Really sounds like its not exclusive to PlayStation at all.

He said in a tweet when someone asked him that it's exclusive to PS4/vita on consoles.

It'll get a PC release fo sho.

And probably a release on Android and iOS.

I'd like to have it on a mobile platform, but if its coming to iOS I'd rather have it on my iPad than Vita.

It's pretty much a point and click game which is one of the few game types to be well suited for tablets. What's the problem?

Actually I just remembered I have my original PC copy of this floating about somewhere, should really try and install it and play it again (don't think I ever finished it originally).

It was as much a point and click game as Resident Evil was.

Not the original control scheme of course but the nature of the game means they could easily make a touch interface that would work like that in a way that wouldn't be possible for RE.

The 3D characters on prerendered backgrounds and the control scheme meant they could have all kinds of camera angles that would have been impossible to make work in a traditional point & click adventure game. This means that often times you're interacting with things or characters who aren't even on screen.
It could definitely be made to work on touch devices, but not as a point & click/tap.

What's interesting about this deal is that it was made with Disney who bought all of Lucasfilm & LucasArts IPs. I kinda assumed when EA paid for the Star Wars licence it would have included all the LucasArts games, evidently not. In theory, if there is a demand this could lead to a remake of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Curse of Monkey Island.

I said 'pretty much' for that reason. The gameplay would work well on a touch screen, like many point and click games do because of the nature of that gameplay. The point was to find out why Lagamorph thinks that Grim Fandango on iOS is a problem. The game would be well suited to tablets.

The control scheme for Grim Fandango was the worst thing about it. Hopefully they take this opportunity to fix it.

This is a recent video of Tim Schafer playing through and commenting on Grim Fandango.

I started this game a couple of times but never did finish it (I think I got stuck in the pre-internet days) but I love the South American influenced music.

@OSC

Preferring a game on an IPad over an actual gaming device is the problem.

Not realising that some games are better suited to tablets instead of dedicated gaming devices is narrow minded.

Some might be.
Grim Fandango is not one of those games however.

It is instead a game type that can work equally as well on both types of devices. Given that I want the portable version on the device I have with the biggest and best screen...which would be my iPad.

Yes but console exclusivity for Sony platforms.
