I heard Ayr was one of the very likely places to be affected before, not sure if it was GAME or Gamestation. Whatever makes the least money I guess.

Erk. Guess that's Gamestation out, then. Shame as I liked folk who worked there, they're nice bunch. Same with guys in GAME, although I know Gamestation far better.

This is what you get by regular visiting these stores  But yeah, one of them closing will make Ayr feel not same (which it is already as of late 2009, alot of stores are closed :( )

The Game staff in my shops are all alright, by my book. I hope the one in The Bridges shuts, because I've done rude things with the assistant manager years ago, and going in can be awkward.

This thread shows you frankly the absurd amount of Game's literally a few seconds apart from each other, makes you wonder why they opened in the first place

I don't actually shop at GAME, but the staff down here (Portsmouth) have generally been ok, in both stores. There's also a Debenhams branch down by the seafront, and it's usually quite busy from what I've seen.

I'll never forgive GAME for what they did to the Birmingham branch of Gamestation though.

This is pretty much why I hate going in there. There's always some dude/chick heckling you.

In many cases they didn't - they "inherited" a lot of them by buying other game retailers.

The Debenhams in Lincoln's a fair way from the others, is pretty close to the main car park and has some decent preowned prices. It'll be a shame to see that go as I can't stand the Game in Lincoln and Gamestation is always full of anklebiters on a weekend.

Makes sense to close a couple, as they're all taking business from each other AND paying more in rent/overheads.

You're a Stockport native? o/

I work in the Game store there, luckily it's a big store so I'm hoping we won't be affected. We're far more profitable than Gamestation next door so if any store here is closed it's likely them - but hopefully neither will be affected too much.

There is a Game store in Liverpool I could see going. It feels quite hidden, I never knew about it till the other week and it was pretty dead inside.

That the one upstairs in the back corner of the indoor shopping centre that literally strawberry floating no one has ever gone in? Now they've got the store in Liverpool One, I reckon both the Game and the St John's Gamestation could easily both go.

There's two in Leeds within spitting distance of each other too.

Aye, exactly. It used to be pretty much what my ideal game shop would be. Then GAME got their filthy hands on it. :x

Well there's that other one further south, quite close to Debenhams, the one that's sharing with Carphone Warehouse. Can't see that one closing though, because of the sharing deal - CW might have to close too or something.

Well I doubt the game in Redditch will close down considering it's just moved to a bigger space, but I hope the gamestation doesn't close down because their staff aren't morons like the one in game last time I went, however they always seem to be blasting heavy metal in gamestation, which I don't mind it just it's bad enough going into a game store in Redditch let alone one thats dark and is blasting heavy metal at full volume :fp:

Merry Hill on the other hand could do with losing some, 2 games, 1 gamestation and a game in debenhams :fp: :fp: :fp:

They moved the Game to a bigger unit in a better location as well, right at the top of the escalators, and it's actually got quieter

I don't want either of them to close, although Gamestation is better because it doesn't have GAME Radio. I odn't know anyone in GAME anymore either, it looks like the entire staff have changed. :|

No idea exactly, maybe 18 months ago? (At least). I don't go there anymore, so it could have been before that. Last I heard it was loads of 360 demo consoles down there.

Is the new game store any good? Playable consoles etc or just a larger store? The entire staff were 30-something utter morons with no clue about games and totally unhelpful last time I went in to see how much I could get for trade ins just after christmas, swore I wouldn't buy anything from them from them now. Always overpriced and offer gooseberry fool trade-in value.
