I'm actually happy there closing, now the 'up their own arses and extremely weird' managers and workers know what it feels like to be unemployed! gutted!

I'm glad I ddin't ahve to do this and went one on one. Don't believe in those group situations

My interview there basically involved a group of us playing Rock Band (Everyone else failing on Easy, me on Expert :shifty: ), then having to research one of the consoles and explaining why it's better than the others.

Then I got called back for a one on one interview which had me selling insurance for a stapler :fp:

Why would they ask that question? strawberry floating Game fanboys telling me which console is better is something I don't want

Yeah, I was basically having to do exactly what I hate their staff doing (Advertising insurance for the consoles all the time, for example)
I think he said that it was meant for us to learn what the console can do compared to the others.

You'd imagine most people who want to work at Game shops already know about the consoles and what they do, though...

He still went for the blonde one with breasts over me in the end :x

They all do the same. Luckily, no girl with gigantic hooters was looking for a job at the same time as me

GAME used to have quite a solid management training program when I was there many moons ago. From some of these replies it would seem that program no longer exists. Honestly, what fu*king manager trains his/her staff by getting them to pretend to sell insurance for a stapler?

about the only thing seperating the game and gamestation in 'my' shops is a grainger games! and there's a sainsburys and an asda at either side too!

and to think when i was younger and had time/money for games there wasn't a single electronics/games/music type shop in the place!

This and I really don't see the point in having two GAME shops in my city that close together there's just no point.

I enjoyed the false sense of superiority that came with strolling around with massive Selfridges bags full of Wiimote accessories.

I think half the reason they're losing money is because of their dreadful staff. Sorry to anyone who works there, I appreciate that you're not all bad, But its awful.

I get some strawberry floating rem trying to convince me that what I want is wrong, that what I know is wrong, you have the managers sucking their own penis while the retards at the counter watch. Then they have that strawberry floating dreadful swagger that you only see in game stores, like 'Im mummy strawberry floating nerd king, baby'. The absolute worst thing is, the staff are rarely knowledgable; I understand that the interviewers and bossmen want to take on more social and attractive people, but surely they should have to have some knowledge of what theyre selling. Ive seriously lost count of how many times Ive been in a game store and corrected the retard store assistant giving biased advice or false facts to a customer.

I could get a job there and kill them from the inside, or attempt some sort of revolt, But I understand that it isnt all the fault of the customer assistants; And that the self loving management probably have a hand in forcing them to be utter banana splits.

tl;dr, Good riddance.

So, your shopping experience in GAME is one you would recommend to others then?

It's not quite that simple and it does work as a barrier to entry to competitors. If GAME has outlets where there is still a fair while due on the lease they it may work out better to keep a store open even if it loses money on the bottom line as long as it still operates at a profit before the fixed costs (rent, insurance, rates) are taken into consideration.

The point with regard to competition is that with the purchase of Gamestation, GAME own their competition. It is worth operating both brands in the same town/city as it makes it harder for competition to enter the market there. In simplistic terms, you minimize the threat of a competitor; If you just had the one brand and a new operator comes along, it may split the business 50:50. If you operate 2 businesses and a third comes along, the split is a potential 33:33:33, with you retaining 2/3rds of the market. Given that it looks like there is only room for 2 national high street dedicated video game retailers, it makes sense to own and operate both yourself.

Reading his post I imagine him lurking in the stores to pop up to save the customers, not buy anything. Like a GAME Batman.

I mean, If the managers just made me take off the mask, Then they could ban me from the stores.

Im tempted to just sort that rant into a formal argument and include a few choice quotes from google and send it to the management in like an open letter or something. Ill finish it with 'I want to love you, you have so much potential, but you're killing yourself :x '

Ive never felt so British.

Aye, Gamestation and the small Game are great, staff are nice and actually talk sense. Shame one of them two will probably go, whilst the bigger Game remains open.

I never got those stupid little GAME sections in Debenhams. They never had any customers, mainly because there was usually a proper GAME just outside the shop and down the road. :fp:

Especially if you're in Birmingham, where there's a stupid number of GAMEs and Gamestations. :fp:
