I agree with a lot of the posts here, you could guess the final scene (more or less) a mile off but it was really well done on the whole and it was good to see a series getting a proper ending (which seems to be pretty rare these days).

I'm really going to miss it though, it's been my TV highlight for a good while.

Dat cast

Not sure what Walter and the child observer weren't a paradox in the future as well as the present and like people said quite why getting rid of the Observers didn't completely reset the timeline back when they first interfered I'm not sure of, although I suppose its possible that presumably the future society created from the boy Observer made sure that everything that happened to the point of invasion still happened.

That's probably as good an explanation as any. There were a few narrative jumps towards the end but I was happy to let them off.

Bit underwhelmed with the "safe" ending. As they've finished it, why not take the opportunity to kill some of the main characters or give September his abilities back? Who wouldn't have wanted to have seen September get them back?

Yes?

Seeing as those abilities were shown to come at quite a cost in Peter's case, no-one. :P

Also I think Enterprise shows the folley of killing off main characters "just because". Walter's sacrifice was far more meaningful than a random death would have been.

The Fringe encyclopedia is out in the UK now. Received my copy from Amazon last week but it appears out of stock now. Waterstones has it in stock for £5 more though.

Delve into the mysteries of Fringe: September’s Notebook, the official TV tie-in book that is truly unlike any book of its kind. This unique tome that charts all five seasons of the WB series is an essential, and fully sanctioned, part of Fringe‘s mythology. Written from the perspective of the Observer known as September, Fringe: September’s Notebook features lush in-world storytelling and thousands of never-before-seen images that provide new insight into the series.

The extraordinary tale of how Walter Bishop, Peter Bishop, Olivia Dunham, their close colleagues, families, friends, and alternate universes doppelgangers affected September, has been captured here in immense detail, with complete support, input, and guidance from the show’s producers. Over a year in the making, Fringe: September’s Notebook is a 192-page hardback notebook overflowing with September’s handwritten observations, covert photographs, personal sketches and musings, as well as extensive FBI case files and hyper-detailed Massive Dynamic intel. Fans will even be able to interact with September’s movable notes, salvaged elements, and highly classified tangible elements.

Secrets that September kept to himself will be revealed here for the first time, and so much more, in Fringe: September’s Notebook – The Bishop Paradox. The official tie-in book experience will never be the same again…

They're also going to release a collectors edition for £150  in May:

This collectors’ set features a special edition of Fringe: September’s Notebook bound in sleek black leather—as seen in one of the final episodes of the show, in the hands of the title character! The book is housed in a deluxe clamshell case, with a numbered plate signed by series regulars Anna Torv, John Noble, and Joshua Jackson, and executive producer J.H. Wyman. Nested alongside is a small keepsake box containing a piece of precious Amber, a genuine artifact from the set of the show. Also included are exclusive ephemera, including two additional posters and a complete reproduction of the comic book seen in Season 5, with awesome illustrations inspired by the adventures Fringe Division.

I had that book delivered today and I can confirm it's pretty snazzy.
I managed to miss the first few episodes of season 5 so I'm waiting for the series 1-5 box set so I can watch it all though.
There's also going to be some Fringe novels as well.

My god. I just watched the final episode of Season 1.

The twist regarding Peter Bishop is not the Peter Bishop of this "reality" after all. :(

Got the season 1-5 blu ray boxset this week, pretty disappointed with it if I'm honest. It's basically just the seperate box set's in one, nothing special extra. To make matters worse for some reason it opens from the bottom with the weight of the discs pushing it down so you have to be ready to hold the bottom if say you're taking it off the shelf else it will all just fall on the floor. Ridiculous design decision :| :|
