Just seen that you buy one of the deluxe or premium editions or respective upgrade, you get access to it 5 days early, kind of annoying this is almost becoming the norm for quite a few games now to get people to cough up the extra to upgrade, as it's Forza I probably will (happily in fact, as I"d be buying the pass for the top edition anyway).

I do wonder if they'll have any special editions for physical versions to announce before launch, could be very tempted by one of those.

We got to see a full demonstration of Forza Motorsport, and one thing is clear: Turn 10 wants you to get your hands dirty in this next-gen reboot. We tell you everything we saw and learned. The Forza Motorsport gameplay was demoed on a developer Xbox Series X console. All impressions are from a behind-closed-doors demonstration of Forza Motorsport Xbox Series X gameplay that took us through the entire Forza presentation live.

The problem Forza motorsport has had, is it’s been pretty dull. Horizon helps the formula. But when you compare to assetta corsa, or f1, I think it’s the sense of speed that’s the issue.

I love Forza, I’m excited for it, but I think it needs a bit more change up.

It’s looking good and sounding good, career sounds ok for a racing game, will be getting one of the passes so I can get it early.

I know I’m in the minority but it annoys me they haven’t even mentioned using a wheel on it yet, I just want to know if they’ve actually put time into making it feel good on a wheel, for all the talk about how improved the physics engine is, the tyre model it should be fantastic but as I said, they don’t seem to have mentioned it. Unless they did after I stopped watching when the FH5 segment came on.

I might have missed it but was that shown on an Xbox? It doesn't look as good as what they showed last year which I think was running on PC. Or maybe they downgraded the lighting and textures to keep a higher framerate.

Yeh they seem to have made it even worse than before now that you have to grind a car to unlock parts and modify it

they should have at least tied it to manufacturer levelling rather than individual car models.

Why. Why can't just playing the game and doing the thing be fun, especially for racing games where doing the thing IS fun? Why does everything have to be hammered into the "[GENRE] with rpg elements" singularity of entirely artificial fun, hind-brain chemical stimulation of watching numbers go up and "engagement" where what you are doing becomes subservient to filling XP bars.

i can see the angle of really connecting with a car over time - but i dont know if having to grind for parts for every car is the answer

for me i think it would be unlocking extras rather than base features as a reward

f4 season mode was peak i think, just loads of fun events within particular niches - though i missed the enduro events from previous entries

Yep, you could do that curated season-like mode with the BBC narrator or just get into the racing spreadsheet with loads of interesting restrictions.

you can have number go up without having it being bound to the intrinsic gameplay loop though right?

imagine a system where you get flat points - 50 per race, 75 podium, 100 win - and its like 500 to level - but the level gives nothing outside of say a cod style badge "i love my m5" or whatever

not necessary to play the game, but a fun little stupid thing to do if you love your m5

I imagine the grinding for parts would become very tiresome if you want to get them all for each car, but if you end up using 20% of the cars on a regular basis? You'll certainly have enough variety to race through the single player, enjoy the online (if you can find a good lobby) and spend too much time hot-lapping your favourite tracks in your preferred cars.

Did they actually mention using a wheel with it? I'm worried that while there will obviously be support there for various wheels, it's not exactly going to be a great experience.... Which means that the best game on Xbox to hot lap with is the original Assetto Corsa as ACC is a mess in hot lap on the Series X

As mentioned, be good to see what wheel support they have as I love it on the F1 games. But Forza have historically been rough for wheels.

The past couple of F1 games haven't exactly been great on my wheel either sadly, very inconsistent FFB, goes from merely feeling ok to absolutely nothing, from what I've read F1 23 is a big step up on F1 22, but still waiting for a 50% off sale or for it to hit Game Pass if Forza is that good, although I've no idea if you can get the 5 hour trial through EA play on the Xbox. Guess I'm just seeing the silence on the wheel front as not great news, surely if it was great they'd show someone actually using a wheel with it, I've not gone back and watched the rest of Forza Monthly yet though, so no idea if it did get mentioned or shown off in that.

I'll be ordering the season pass at some point too, be my first proper Forza since FM3!

What wheel do you have? I have the G29 and some tweaking of the settings made it excellent.

With asseta corsa I had to use some mods to smooth out the lumps, with a LUT generator I fed into the game.

F1 2022 was waaay too spinny. If you felt you were going round, it was already too late. Most of my mates went back to 2021 as you could control slides, and could realistically do no or 1/2 tc. Hopefully 2023 improves again.

I've got the G923, I tried to follow numerous guides I found online, just never felt right really, I do agree that F1 22 was far, far, far too spinny, as soon as you even lost the rear that was it, it looks like you can actually control and catch spins from the little I've seen of F1 23. If I wanted an F1 game to play, I went back to F1 2020, felt better than 2021 in my opinion, although the tracks they added in 2021 were excellent and you didn't have the awful Hanoi track in 2021!

Sadly mods aren't an option for me on AC, it feels very good on console though, both AC and ACC, just as I mentioned, one of the game modes is a mess on ACC.

Basically more (free) cars, and double credits.
Forza usually throws cars and credits at you. But there have been a couple that didnt (3 and 4?). And I dont know if theyre going to go down the GT tack and be ultra stingy with everything.

Is it bad that im considering it?
