The previous Football Thread has been placed in the Archive for posterity, for those that wish to nostalgically revisit the 2013/2014 Season at any point.

So Leeds seem to be appointing this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Hockaday

Quite the record in the Conference with Forest Green, his only managerial job to date:

09/10 - Relegated but reinstated due to Salisbury's demotion for financial rule breaking
10/11 - Survived on last day on goal difference
11/12 - Finished 10th despite having the biggest transfer and wage budget in the league
12/13 - Sacked after losing 7 out of 8 games at the start of the season

What?!

Yeah, he's been one of the bookies' favourites for a while now. Never head of the man before.

The NLD is on my wedding day. Might have to squeeze in a quick game of Russian roulette to calm myself down :dread:

I think you're overreacting a little here DML, most people don't even know about Non-league day.

I found this useful last year - create your own calendar and add it to your Google calendar (or equivalent). New fixtures are up already.

Barcelona are trying to sign Koke, so Xavi's move should go through after the World Cup. I think a few players were upset with the direction of the club with a lot of heartache and changes over the last three years - not to mention the court cases and transfer ban. There's a clear-out this summer with Puyol following Cesc, Pinto and Valdes out the door. Alves and Tello could also be leaving. Fabregas was quoted as saying Xavi was "stepping aside" and yesterday Dan Petrescu, Al-Arabi's manager, said he'd signed for them.
I wanted to see him cameo at Man Utd for a season but I reckon he'll be back as Barca coach/boss within three years.

There's a few papers running the story. I think Marca were one of the first to run with it.

Arsenal fans, there are rumours flying around today that Sociedad are going to smash their transfer record in the next few days to sign Vela on a long-term deal for about €20m.

Makes sense, that would just about cover us buying Cleverley :fp:
