Ok, but Square have one of the most talented localisation teams in the biz. It’s hard to imagine how there wasn’t any internal concerns raised early enough to take action on.

It’s probably more accurate of them to say the Western fantasy media they were influenced by is typically all-white, rather than trying to say they were just ensuring their make-believe world is true to medieval Europe. Even if that was true, it’s a fantasy world, mate, you can do whatever you want! There is no authenticity to adhere to when it’s all made up!

Exactly, I can respect the intention to base it on influences even if the execution could have been better and updated and believe it's a wording issue, especially since XIV is generally good at having different cultures represented.

Dragons > acceptable in our era authentic story setting
Black people > absolutely not
Eikons/primals that have existed in every last game we've done regardless of setting > totally fine

Never thought I’d be skipping a Final Fantasy SoP and yet here we are. Not interested at all.

Every step FF has taken towards real time combat has pushed me further away from the series. FF12 was the last I enjoyed (and it took me going back to the remaster to fully appreciate it). I played and got enjoyment out of 13 but the sequels lost me. I didn’t like 15 at all. I played it quite far but it’s the first I never finished. I tried 7 remake on PS plus but it just didn’t grab or hold me, the combat was an interesting mix of new and old but perhaps a bit too real time focused. So I have very little interest in this new one at all.

Looks great. Had a grin from ear to ear during the boss showcase seeing bits and pieces lifted from XIV. Like the arena for Garuda just being the Howling Eye, and the Malboro one just being the knee-deep lake from the 1.0 trailer. Also the boss attacks just being a translation of XIV mechanics.

Combat also looks pretty slick seeing more of the later stuff. Definitely putting the DMC roots to good use.

Only concern so far is the Eikon v Eikon stuff. The Garuda one that we saw in full a while back seems to have lasted a bit long and I'm worried they'll overstay their welcome. But we'll see.

Looks phenomenal. I'm usually a proponent of the turn-based style, but this just looks great fun.

Good to hear that it was a good showing. Still not interested in watching it. I have my preorder in now and don’t want to see anything at all.

I'm a turn based snob but this looks phenomenal. Loved FF15's combat and this looks a ramped up version of that.

Those Eikon battles woaft.

Kind of glad this isnt proper open world

Booked a week off work and decided to go for the expensive version when I order digitally.

I loved FF15 and this looks beautiful with combat closer to DMC5.

Wish my image sig would work

The new issue of American gaming magazine Game Informer features some wonderful wrap-around cover artwork for Final Fantasy XVI.

In his defence his forebear in IV was called Cecil and in V the main character was called Bartz.

Naoki Yoshida has confirmed there are no current plans for any DLC.

They’re also not planning a day 1 patch, saying they’re confident in the build. Hope they’re right, but given there’s no online component at all and they’re only targeting a single hardware base, I don’t see why it can’t be so.

It's looked pretty solid from all the footage I've seen so far, so I'm not worried.

Also pretty sure they've said we're getting a demo, which is basically the first couple of hours. Which will be great assuming progress carries over.
