Good demo

Not sure I'd want to play that specific section divorced from the context of the larger game to be honest.
I might give it a go once the add they Junon section later in the month though.

Can't wait for this.

Warning, contains so much content about the game you will probably have seen what the whole game offers. Looks amazing though.

According to Kotaku it's seems to literally by Chapter 1 of the game

Question: is this going to pull some "you need to have played the Yuffie stuff or you'll have missed part of the story" shenanigans?

Basically, do I need to try and squeeze in playing Intergrade before this drops?

I decided to download the demo as I wasn;t playing the full game until I return from Rome in mid March.

Played 30 minutes of the demo. It's excellent so far. Production values are as high as the last game, looks beautiful and the music is so good.

Apparently they have recorded over 400 different music scores for this game.

Just finished the demo... Very special and the set up for what's to come is masterfully done. The big bad is beautifully portrayed and given so much time to shine.

Really can't wait to get stuck into the main game.

Is the demo confirmed as the opening of the game then? I don't want to play it if it's just a random section

Yes it's the literal start of the game. Over an hour of gameplay. Progress carries over.

There is a second part of the demo which is a random battle section from later in the game. But it hasn't been unlocked yet and will be closer to release.

Cheers, I'll definitely be giving it a go then! :toot:

Only like 2 things of note happen in the Yuffie DLC, and they're both pretty specific to Yuffie.

I don't think it will be right at the start, I believe you will still have to get and see Calm before you end up at the Inn like in the OG. The Demo starts at the flashback of Cloud telling the story so it won't be far in.

If you have played the OG which I am sure you have, there isn't much in the way of spoilers, it plays pretty much as the OG flashback.

Couple of minor things that frustrated me in the demo

Camera kept swinging around when moving through the outside lands.
That bit where they make Cloud walk slower near the end with a hobble goes on far too long and was unnecessary, you can say the same for closing the valve and crawling on your arms by pressing L/R2

I too was under the impression that we would get to start the game outside the gates of Midgar, its what the end of credit video (I don't know if in remake or the yuffie DLC) hinted at, so for the game starting at the Inn I must admit, it drew me off a bit from wanting to play the demo. From the videos they showed in the previews it looked like there were a lot of battles occurring in the world map, or at least it gave me the impression of having a bit of an open world vibe like FFIV.

Now I'm thinking its going to be more like remake (which was not bad, finished three times actually) which was quite linear...

If you played the Yuffie DLC you will get a little extra. I think the next game will start outside of Calm if they use the DLC. If they don't there is a clip in the first trailer where they exit Midgar and comment how green everything is, so could be there.

Eurgh. Didn't like Intermission. Yuffie was horrid and the setting is generic industrial room after room
