Shutting Tango though, they did some great stuff, still need to play Ghostwire but them and Arkane Austin going are rubbish.

They will try not to laugh loud enough that you can hear them.

Here, have 1 month of GamePass Ultimate :toot:

You worry about about some of the other studios under MS now, teams like Double Fine, Compulsion, Ninja Theory and Obsidian. What happens if the next games from these teams perform like HIFI Rush? Could they be next for the chopping block??

It is a worrying turn of events. Ninja Theory apparently have 2 other projects on the go, Double Fine have a few as do Obsidian but yeah, it's still strawberry floating stupid.

Hi-Fi Rush didn't sell well at all and Arkane Austin were working on Red Fall Fixes/DLC but they should have just pivoted them to other things.

Gutted for HIFI, I bought it on Steam not long after getting my Deck along with all of Tango’s other games. Honestly thought it was doing well considering the praise it got.

You have to imagine we won’t see any more projects like Pentiment get green lit any more either. This is just a real short sighted move.

The thing with Pentiment was that it was a small team working on it while the other teams worked on Grounded, Avowed and Outer Worlds 2 so it's not exactly the same thing and I hope those smaller projects will continue. I presume Arkane Austin and Tango had games at an early production phase and MS just didn't like them?

Did Hi-Fi Rush really not sell well? They seemed to have 3 million players by last August, which is surely enough to be considered a success through the Game Pass model?

I thought that was a success too but it actually sold really poorly on Steam and PS5 which was a surprise. It's baffling to shut down your only Japanese Studio, especially after Phil going on and on about how he was so happy to finally have a Japanese studio under the Xbox brand.

Anything short of a full refund would be unacceptable.

I bet they wouldn't have shut Tango if Mikami was still there.

Maybe one of the other teams will be given Hi-Fi Rush to work on. Maybe King.

Imagine if they close all the CoD studios at the end of the year, and it turns out Spencer and Nadella just really hate gamers.

Or, all of MS’s studios become CoD support studios

I'm amazed Phil Spencer is still in a job, tbh. Well not really...incompetence at executive level is routinely rewarded these days, but if anyone needs to go it's him.

Agreed, when you think about it, he's not really improved MS's position from when he took over. Yes he's overseen GamePass but even subs to that have stalled, he only seems to spend MS's money

You can tell how awful this news is as it's actually made Photek criticise MS.

You'd think Spencer must have questions to answer based upon the expenditure by Xbox and their market position. He has been in the role a long time now and it perhaps wouldn't be unfair to wonder where Xbox is going; it feels like things are pretty messy.
