:fp:

Talks of giving up the precious 'bluehat' in order to gain more votes (that is what that is), and now talks of redoing a poll because most of the members voting 'no' are clearly not doing it right, or don't understand the question properly (should probably read: "We all want Eighthours to be a mod - yes or yes?")

You guys 'up top' want to make him a mod so just strawberry floating do it already and stop giving everyone the illusion of choice  If it doesn't happen tonight, then it'll happen later on. I'm completely indifferent so it won't change my life if he does become a mod, but if you must know, I voted 'no' because I can think of a handful of members I'd make mods in favour of Eighthours.

Not to say Eighthours wouldn't/won't do a decent job of it.

There are probably naff either way, both yeses and noes. The point is, at first nobody knew whether or not Eighthours was actually up to the task, so it could have come off as more of a frivolous campaign like the crap loads of others there have been in the past, rather than an official, de-facto vote.

I half heartedly suggested tnman post a topic (I guess you could attribute some degree of responsibility to me for that) but it was not properly considered and no-one agreed to this topic until it was basically too late to go against, concerned that forumites would cry "fix" should we go back on it.

If people want to vote no properly in another poll, they will. If people are just pissing about hopefully they'll think twice in the new topic.

Basically this isn't even an "official" poll. It's ad-lib. For that reason I don't think it's really legit.

How many polls will have to be done before it's "official"? Until the result wanted is got?

How do you know they haven't voted no (or yes!) properly this time?

I mean hell...this is one could now even be biased, as Poncho said, the sympathy card's been played.

Such have followed people's suggestions earlier and just nuked it from Orbit, not continued to give the illusion of a vote while undermining a result which isn't the desired.

Epic lulz though.

So what is the point of this topic then? To gauge formites opinions on decisions that will be taken by the higher-up's regardless of what the result is?

The truth is I have no bloody idea. Tnman posted the topic on his own whim. It's just gone off on a rollercoaster and because he's a mod some have taken the topic seriously, and some of the other mods posting has only exacerbated this by seemingly condoning. Others have probably just taken the piss because they either don't actually care or because they didn't know Eigthours was actually open to the position.

In actuality, there was no agreement over this, hence the "Oh tnman what have you done?" posts. Poor fella.

You leave tnny out of this

It's all your fault!

Leave tnny alone!

Everyone picks on him! Just leave him alone!

Just so people know, this vote is clearly rigged and will not count. The decision to appoint mods would never be done on a public sodding vote anyway.

I think it's a amazing that 161 people have voted in one day.

If anything it really highlights how successful the forum has become.

Or how many new accounts have been created to cast votes. I have been watching people all day register, cast a vote and not make a single post. Hence why this vote is more rigged than the X-Factor final

Um. 20 people registered today?

Between 10-15 for the days before...

And what a horrible trick of you to play on Eighty. He really seemed to believe it

It's not a pretence, CJ. If I lose the poll, no modship. That's it. The founders and mods are outlining their own views and saying what they think should happen, but it's "one member, one vote". Some people are putting the case "for", and anyone can put the case "against" if they wish

So this whole thing, this 30 something page thread and massive poll was the biggest waste of time imaginable?

I voted 'yes' by the way, Eighthours would obviously be a great choice for mod but it shouldn't be up to me anyway.

Wonder if this would have been said if the vote went the other way?

If people where serious about airing their views they would have posted in this topic.

I really don't think we should lay the closing votes to people like "frogman", "Tarp", "sadge", "Playtendo 360", "The Glorious Strategist", "Machoman", which practically reads like a list of joke accounts and spammers.

Anyway, 1 vote up.

I'll have you know that "The Glorious Strategist" is actually my account. I registered it earlier when the LewisD fiasco first happened, to test any security flaws in a regular user being able to see the Staff Room via any option such as 'view unanswered posts' or something.

Needless to say, you can't. I also didn't use it to vote in the poll, as tempting as it was. :(
