I will say that having the Instant Game Collection start on day 1 with DriveClub is a very canny move, and anyone who wants to buy it would probably be told to pay the £40/year subscription and get it for "free" rather than paying £40+ to own it outright. Nevertheless, requiring a subscription for online multiplayer is bullshit, even if they do throw a pile of games at you for the money.
