I'd quite like to try this but the free-to-play angle of this game always put me off.

I really want from this game to be a similar model to animal crossing i.e option to only pay for the base game (it's like £30 on eshop). I understand some content will be locked behind paywalls or subscriptions.

Like animal crossing not the sort of game I would get too deep with but I'd have some casual fun with. But is the base game that you buy worth it? Do I need to register, always be online, join a subscription? Is this similar to animal crossing (i.e. if I like Disney and animal crossing am I likely to enjoy this)? Thank you :)

I think if you just buy the base and play it like animal crossing you can get a lot out of it..... You have to pay extra for special costumes bits of furniture and certain characters, but I got about 40 hours out of the base game experience. I made a video about it where I show my actual game and farms and such off its below.

Thank you 40 hours seems like more than enough - might pick this up sometime. Cheers

Barnsy, I backup kerr's thoughts; the base game has plenty to it and it's fun to play in a similar-but-not-the-same way as Animal Crossing. Definitely worth a go, I'd say.

Yeah, it's a good life sim where you have no need to worry about any of that free-to-play stuff. It pretty much is just cosmetic stuff anyway. And the currency you need for such premium goods can be found slowly just from playing. Of course, you could always just pretend it's a Disney farming sim and turn the entire valley into a carrot farm.

I won't be getting it myself, but I know my misses will get it, she loves the game.

I'll wait and see exactly what the expansion includes. I enjoyed the game but I haven't played it for a few month's now.

Taking a closer look at the content map there’s some other unconfirmed characters

Early spring is described as a vibrant villager and my guess is daisy

And for late spring we have a tease for a realm that’s clearly mulan

Sorry, shy guy - I hadn't looked at your spoilers because I'd assumed they were for "secret" stuff rather than roadmap content  .

But, hey, it does look like there is a lot of cool stuff coming to the game!

So the content roadmaps tease several unannounced characters and I was wondering who everyone thought they are?

Daisy Duck and Mulan in the free updates

The others I think are shown in the chess board section, I think Flynn from Tangled was one of them. Probably Aladdin to go with Jafar for extra men.

He was along with lumeire and cogsworth. But the only tease I was referring to was a character described as lucky

Probably Aladdin with the magic lamp.

I picked up the expansion (on Switch) and am back into playing the game :toot: . It feels good; no pressure, no stress, just fun stuff to do. I think that's what I need right now!
