The Layton games are marvelous; I enjoy both the consistency that runs through them and the different approaches to the mini-games. I feel the earlier games in the series are where the ideas work best, but they are all great fun.

I've got around to playing Fez on the Xbox 360. I'm only five minutes in... it's beautiful, isn't it?

I'm a sucker for the 'modern-pixel' look anyway, but the approach
of starting the game and then re-starting it with the third dimension
is genius. Sometimes you know within moments if you'll enjoy a game and this is terrific.

Killzone Shadow Fall - what a load of gooseberry fool  Respawning enemies until you turn an alarm off. Oh but then there's those completely invisible bad guys that don't show up even when you scan an area, who immediately spot you and set the alarm off. strawberry float off.

The single player campaign is terrible it's possibly one of the worst FPS's I've ever played.

I'm tempted to start it again just to make absolutely sure it's gooseberry fool. Maybe it's just me trying to be too stealthy. That's what the Vita version is all about, see.

You know you can disable alarms, right?

If you're having trouble in the stages when it's great you've got Noor hope in the later stages when it turns into a mess.

Don't play many single player FPS campaigns?

It's not hard at all, really, and the singleplayer is one of the best campaigns in an FPS in years.

Buff is right, Killzone, the alarms, and the OWL are all terrible. For a flagship game it's an abomination.

Also those checkpoints in the first level. Wow.

It might not be the worst campaign ever, but its not close to the best in years either.

 two of the forum's worst culprits straight in there.
HSH28 wrote:It might not be the worst campaign ever, but its not close to the best in years either.

I've played most FPS games in the past 3-4, the only major ones I've missed have probably been Crysis 2 and 3. I had more fun playing Shadow Fall than any of them, including Halo. As someone who hated the previous Killzone games and was bored to tears, I'm surprised just how good this one was. To call it an abomination is just the lazy "if it's not great, it's the worst thing ever" mentality that's all to common on here and just makes me completely disregard any opinions from people who do that.

I haven't touched the other three, and was hoping this might be something special for a franchise that everyone raves about. Everything about it was disappointing (seriously, thanks to the terrible checkpointing on the first level I had to play through the getting the OWL to saving that other team three or four times), so I pretty quickly figured it wasn't worth my time.

If it had a co-op mode I'd have stuck with it for a bit longer, but they forgot to put that in too so I traded it in as soon as I could.

(also, I said "for a flagship game, it's an abomination". I'd expect a first-party big budget AAA title to have had a little love and attention spent on it, and Shadow Fall just didn't. I guess you could say it's a bit of a Shadow Fail. ho ho ho)

Better SP FPS games in the past 3-4 years? Challenge accepted.

Crysis 3
Metro Last Light
Far Cry 3
Bioshock Infinite
Deus Ex Human Revolution
Portal 2
Halo 3 ODST
Borderlands 1/2
Zombi U

I'm sure there are many more, I'm not arguing that you had/would have a better time playing any of those, but I am arguing they are objectively better games.

I play quite a lot. I've completed:

All three Bioshock games
All the Killzone games
Majority of the Call of Duty games
Crysis 2
Halo 3
Halo 3 ODST
Borderlands 1+2

Shadow Fall's campaign was littered with poor level design. The platforming sections for instance were laughable. The plot was incredibly dull and the game play save a few nice moments was average. Visually it all looks fantastic but the core of the game is quite poor.

Might want to update your firmware Hugo, 2009 was not 3/4 years ago.

You are all wrong because no one has mentioned Bulletstorm.
