Deliveroo, Uber and Just Eat keep throwing grocery vouchers at me but the prices on these apps are now so inflated compared to in-store that by the time you’ve also paid delivery and service charge fees there’s no saving at all.

Used to get some phenomenal online voucher codes from Waitrose (£20 off a £100 shop type of thing) but they’ve stopped now. Don’t even offer me MyWaitrose discounts on a Wednesday. Days of £1 for a box of bran flakes have come to an end.

I have never ordered food using any of those delivery companies. I don't plan to in the near future, either. Far too expensive, imho!

In terms of takeaways, the quality is atrocious. It amazes me people keep ordering from them as the likes of McDonald’s, KFC, Popeyes etc. is mostly complaints. Some of it is churlish from morons who can’t spell (you forgot the straws!!) but a lot of it is the exact same experiences I’ve had (forgotten items, slow delivery speeds, freezing cold food, spilt drinks, simply tastes like gooseberry fool). Fact is hamburgers and french fries were never designed to be delivered.

Currently on Just Eat a McDonald’s Big Tasty Meal would cost me £12.27 to be delivered. What a fookin’ waste of money.

Different freeholder for me but last year mine went up by 22%. :dread:

Dreading the letter confirming 24-25 service charges, I already pay £165 a month. :dread:

They can do whatever they like. And you either have to pay up, or go to a tribunal.

Service charges can go up or down without any limit, but the landlord can only recover costs which are reasonable. You have the right to apply to the tribunal to challenge any service charges that you feel are unreasonable.

I remember the good old days when my food shop for the week was sometimes under 25 quid.

Back when I lived on my own, I could get my entire week's food shopping for £20. It was all frozen stuff, but it could be done.

Yeah, up until around three or four years ago my weekly shopping basket was around £25. Now it's usually nearer £40, and that's for very basic, usually supermarket-branded, items, too.

I live on my own, my shopping used to come to about £30 a week, £40 when I had my cat still.

It's now between £50 and £60 depending on the week and what I need. It's insane.

Our weekly shop at Aldi is usually somewhere around the £70-£80 mark which is for me, my wife and a 3 year old. She is a vegetarian and we don't buy booze which helps I guess.
