I agree with the Chang/Chase thing. They were completely pointless throughout this whole episode.

Chang and Chase were awful, other than that it was a decent ep. Probably sub-par actually but brought up by Annies ridonkulous clevage

I don't know what you all have against Chang. Used sparingly he can provide some of the show's best moments.

Good episode this week.

Caught up with the last few episodes of this as sadly it isn't a "I need to watch this now!" show that it used to be to me. Didn't think much of any of them, but the latest had a few funny moments. It's been strange watching this series after recently watching both the other 2. Seems completely different :( . As pathetic as it is (although reading through this thread a lot will be on the same wavelength), I don't think I'd be that bothered about watching this if it weren't for Annie's excellent cleavage. Remarkable stuff :fp:

I like Chang though. Probably agree he should be used sparingly, but I like him. Makes me laugh. Abed and Troy just irritate me now and Jeff is quite dull lately too.

Agree with other comments - it's dropped from 'must watch ASAP' to 'watch when/if time'.

I'm not sure why, but it just doesn't feel as good or interesting any more.

I think people are looking back on the last two seasons a little too fondly. I think this season has been just as good and consistent as two (they both dip in and out of quality but maintain a good standard) while the second half of Season 1 is still the show at its best.

Weren't people complaining last week that the show wasn't more down to Earth? Well you got your wish this week and it worked fine.

It's not like I'm looking back remembering the older seasons. I watched them about a month or so ago and it still makes me laugh out loud. The whole way it was done was fun, fresh and interesting. Now it seems a little too try hard. Nothing new there as a lot of shows struggle after a couple of seasons. It's nature. I still "like" the show, it just doesn't grab me anymore. I grab myself when Annie is on screen though.

Madness, it's the only show that I'm watching that I have to watch. I'm behind on the other 9 shows I watch, whilst Community is the only one I watch the day its out. Still easily the best comedy on telly.

I wonder if anyone working on the show looks back at season two's finale and thinks the same way I do - that it would have been the perfect time to write Chevy Chase out of the show.

I always assumed it was supposed to give them that option.

I assumed that's what they were doing throughout S2

Also whatever happened to them studying Biology (or whatever it was) this year

I've been rewatching the start of the series and it's really odd that they just dropped the Biology scenes after 3 episodes, especially since the whole "One fails, we all fail" gimmick was obviously a series-long device. It's like they had to change tack halfway through writing or something.

Anyway, agree with the opinion that it's no longer compulsory viewing. Although it still has more laughs than most sitcoms, it feels like it's really, really trying too hard for them. A lot of the big laughs come not from the wacky situations or hijinks but from the odd aside quip or character moment. Remember when the original paintball episode aired? How much of a breath of fresh air it was, how out of left field? Now that they've made that gooseberry fool happen every week it's completely mundane.

Get rid of Chang, bring back Duncan and the classroom skits and dial down the wackiness. Oh, and stop turning Abed into a dick.

Agree with this apart from actually completely getting rid of chang. I personally still have time for him, despite his best bits long gone. He was amazing as the Spanish teacher. Genuinely hilarious. Have him in it less though for sure. I agree with people saying Chevy should be gone. He's a bit "dead weight" these days. I love Chevy even if he is an ass, but he just doesn't overly work in this anymore. Shirley is a waste of space too. I've never liked her though.

I just used to like it when it was about the college (I honestly couldn't guess it was about a community college these days). It had funny, quirky little classroom scenes, characters you could mildly relate to in a weird way. Now every episode seems to be some weird OTT crazy theme. They obviously saw the hugely positive response about the paintball and were like "ok let's make every episode as weirdly whacky as possible". Don't get me wrong, it is still better than most sitcoms out there, especially popular tripe like TBBT and TaHM, but for me it has simply lost it's "edge".

I've watched the first three episodes of the first season. Does this get good at any point?

I'm a little confused by the whole 'voicemail' drama... Listening to the actual recording paints Chase in a much better light than just taking the attention grabbing 'Chase says that Community is strawberry floating gooseberry fool!' headline at face value. But the recording also has Dan Harman responding rather sarcastically to Chevy saying that he [Harman] just doesn't get his humour.

Did Harman add this later? I don't get it.
