I was looking at an Ioniq 5 but couldn’t get my partner on board with the look of the thing (I love it). Didn’t fancy the wait though, and the last time I was looking the AWD model wasn’t even available to order due to the component shortages. Even with the Mach-E, the 2WD version is plentiful enough on the second hand market, but the AWD is rare, and often at least £60k.

It’s not like I’d be towing or off-roading in this thing but the standard AWD in the I-Pace was one of the biggest draws. It needs to be able to run in the winter here, and recovering a 2t+ vehicle in the ice or snow would be a real challenge

How does it work with battery warranty when the car is second hand? How many miles / years have you got left?

It just transfers. I have 5 years/90,000 miles left on it

Genuinely might be the sexiest car I've ever seen.

It does make you wonder what the future of the road car will be, electric or hydrogen? Got to think once the eco friendly process for harnessing the hydrogen becomes much more economically viable that will be the better option long term. Either option are seemingly going to be expensive as for the duration by the looks of it :dread:

I do love the look of that Hyundai though.

Is that a prototype? The pixel motif on the wheel looks to be missing. Either way, yes it’s still a Hyundai, not exactly at the forefront of plush interiors. The appeal of the Ioniq 5 is the striking retro-futuristic design on the outside, the performance, and the comfort inside (I believe the front seats *properly* recline with a leg rest for taking a comfy nap if you have to stop to charge on a long journey).

…I don’t know why I’m “defending” the car, when I specifically bought a different one

Such a Hyundai fanboy.

No I hadn't realised what they look like from the outside , was just a bit surprised when I saw the interior shot, but that could be a protoype interior for all I know.

I like the look of the mustang, but that front grill is triggering me.

I was looking at a black Mustand and it definitely looked better from the front than the blue.

The £10k price increase was the main thing putting me off

oof, how much was that in total?

TBF you can colour in the front, which makes a big difference. Just not sure if I could trust them with an Electric car

For the extended range batter RWD model they wanted just shy of £57k.

It looks like that price has actually increased even further in the last week or two as well! Looking on the Ford website now the Extended Range battery has been rebranded as the "Premium" model whilst the standard range is now the "Select" model.
Select is just under £51k and the Premium is now just over £59k.

To justify the extra £3k they've thrown in a few bits like red seat stitching and brake calipers and 19" instead of 18" wheels, but getting the extra crap is now the only way to get the extended range battery. It wasn't like that 2-3 weeks ago.

Went new car shopping today and went for a Toyota Yaris self charging hybrid, felt really smooth to drive and the equity in my current car was enough to pay off the finance on that and go as deposit on my new car. Should be here by March :toot:

Ford set to discontinue the Fiesta!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-63391466

The popular Ford Fiesta is set to be discontinued as early as next year as costs of parts rise and drivers opt for SUVs, the BBC understands.

Ford bosses are expected to announce in the next few days that the production of the Fiesta will end by mid-2023.

Quite shocked by this.

Bloody hell. Without the Fiesta in the lineup, the cheapest new Ford is over £23k. Sounds like a terrible move.

Isn’t the Fiesta still one of the best selling new cars in the UK too? Imagine with the rising costs of everything it’s popularity will just go up unless you’re someone who actually needs a bigger car. Seems like a very odd decision.

Hasn't been for about 2 years now. But it's not because people aren't buying small cars, because the Corsa tops sales lists consistently. It's because the current generation of Fiesta look like little more than a lazy rehash of the previous generation, and looked outdated as soon as it launched. Ford are making a big mistake, and will have their lunch eaten by Vauxhall, VW and even MG.

The current gen Fiesta is just very meh, not good but not bad. Definitely feels like a big mistake though, as you said, people will just go elsewhere. I also thought MG were only making those monstrous SUVs these days :dread:

They've just released the MG4, which is an excellent car, and the MG3 is expected to be replaced next year, based off the same modular platform.

Tbf I have seen gooseberry fool tons of pumas around, I think a lot of people will get into them instead

But also the ford boss is very into suvs and not at all interested in saloons or hatchbacks - bearing in mind ford make the bulk of their cash in high margin trucks etc

I'm quite shocked about it.

I mean, the Fiesta is very popular for almost over 40 years or so. Can't believe it and it means no more Fiesta ST to compete with other hot hatch cars.

A stupid mistake in my opinion.

Like False said, there are a lot and lot of Pumas out there. It killed the hot hatch or a small car.
