I agree. But then you didn't vote, did you?

No, I have a load of episodes I love but couldn't begin to list my ten favourites let alone in order.

I'd deffo have Lisa's Substitute and Homer Badman somewhere though.

I bloody love the Radioactive Man Movie one. Got to be one of my favourites and I'm quite surprised it's not in the top 25.

Me too. Very shocked actually. Such a good episode with amazing lines in it. Not sure what I'd take out of the 25 list though for Radioactive Man. Probably Flying Hell Fish.

You could legally have sex with a girl who was born in the year that episode first aired.

I really don't get the King Sized Homer love. It's a really flawed episode that relies on one rather thin joke. Bart's motivation for wanting to help is out of character and Homer's incredibly selfish behaviour is never really tempered with anything deeper. The ending is totally illogical also - Homer being praised for saving the plant from a meltdown he caused.

The episode may be about one joke but many funny moments are derived from it and that's what counts: the funnies.
Bart helping may be out of character but he helps Homer do something incredibly stupid. And doing stupid things is what Bart is all about.

You could pick apart many great episodes because of someone acting out of character or illogical gooseberry fool happening. Any other other eps you think aren't all that great but are are deemed classics by most other people? (genuine question, not a dig)

Just seen the list. Didn't vote myself because there were way too many great eps to whittle down to however many it was needed for the nominations. But! No Maison Derrière ep?! Simpson Tide makes the list but no Bart After Dark? Pfft. What a jip.

A few -

Duffless - it's all quite sweet with some good set pieces, but the subplot to the episode (Lisa's science project) is a deadweight.

Lisa's Wedding - there's a lot of love for this one that I've never really 'got'. Plus, it's aged awfully. It's packed full of prat falls and jokes that don't hit the money.

Mother Simpson - Gilted, forced sentimentality.

The City of New York vs Homer Simpson - Lazy, hack job of an episode. Very few funny or original moments. Compare the rambling pace of this to the magic of Capital City (the Windy Apple) in Dancin' Homer.

Brother From Another Series - There were a lot of votes for this one, but it is just an awful episode in comparison to every other Sideshow Bob episode that came before it. Totally destroyed his character.

I agree about Brother From Another Series but no one disses Mother Simpson on my watch. It's sentimental, I guess, but it's hilarious too. And the final shot of Homer watching the stars is really quite moving.

What would the Captain do in this situation?

"Don't fire the torpedoes"

"Fire the torpedoes!"

"We've been hit by an officer!"

"We'll respond in kind. FIRE!"

*guys go to grab captain*

"Not me a torpedo!"

The scene in the bedroom where Homer is sad after Marge tells him not to get too excited about his mother coming back, that always felt forced to me. But everything else is pretty much spot on and hi-larious.
