Congrats! :toot:

We're hoping to exchange next week. We're down to one outstanding enquiry but all It is is a small typo on a land registry document. If all goes well we might finally be in Aug 24th, over a year since we made our offer on the house.

Bit annoying but the previous owner of the house has left it in a real state :dread: nothing damaged as such but the kitchen is proper grim and needs a full on deep clean, walls are all scuffed and dirty same as the carpets.

Maybe it's just me but i'd be embarrassed leaving a house like this

The day we moved into our current house we couldn't even get in as it was locked from the inside. We ended up having to go through the garage once we located the key.

The house was a complete mess, best way to describe it was they woke up that morning and threw everything into a van and moved out.

I think they must have stopped cleaning after we had our offer accepted as it wasn't as clean as when we viewed.

They put the wrong stuff in the wrong bins, left stuff behind it was so grim and really took the shine of.

The house we sold we completely cleaned before leaving but some people are just dicks.

Yeah, personally I wouldn’t want to leave a place in a mess before a new owner moved in but like you say, some people just don’t care

It actually ruined a happy moment into one of what have we done but once we got sorted it was fine and all good.

Think we ended up staying round my in-laws for an extra night Becky of it.

For what it's worth I'm pretty sure they're not entitled to do this. Anything that hasn't been agreed in the fixtures and fittings as being included as part of the sale should be removed from the property and I believe you are within your rights to ask them to come back and remove things.

Whether it's worth the hassle is another matter of course!

We still haven't exchanged yet but definitely next week now with completion on 24/25 Aug :shifty:
The only thing we are waiting on is for the land registry to amend a document. It has been expedited and they've said they'll look at it by 15th Aug, so fingers crossed!

It took us absolutely ages to clean our house before we sold. We thought we had one car load of stuff left and a bit of scrubbing to do but it ended up being 6 car trips and 7hrs of cleaning to get the place empty and clean on day of completion.

The one we're buying they didn't even clear weeks of dog gooseberry fool from the garden for the viewing - we had to tiptoe through it! So we're not expecting to move into a clean house.

Our house had been professionally cleaned, which I am so grateful for. My sister just bought her first house and it was filthy. They had to flea bomb it :dread:

I was tempted to hire a professional cleaner to come round  but the carpets need replacing so there’s not much point, we are going to do the painting and decorating first and then once that’s all been sorted we’ll rip the carpets out and replace them.

Quite enjoyed properly cleaning our flat once the removal people had taken the stuff, it was nice to leave it in good condition for the next person.

When we got here the previous lady had left us a big bottle of prosecco in the fridge  I remember getting a takeaway curry that night, it was marvellous.

After more delays this week we thought we might finally exchange today... but then got told the seller hasn't actually signed the contract yet. :fp:
She has a habit of ignoring phone calls and emails for weeks at a time so unsurprisingly nobody could get hold of her today. If we're lucky exchange might happen Monday, but also it could drag on another couple of weeks. We're definitely not completing next week.

It's been two months now since we broke the chain to ensure we didn't lose our buyers and it's just ridiculous that the seller and her solicitors haven't even got the contract signed yet. We've been in rented accommodation desperate to buy this house ASAP but the seller just doesn't seem to be in any hurry. We threatened to pull out of the sale if it didn't complete next week but they still didn't meet that. It's almost getting to the point where we lose our mortgage offer and do actually have to pull out, after a year of trying to buy this place. :x

Agreed!

We just moved into our new house last week there. Pretty stressful process(!); the chain fell through at the far end at a late stage, but thankfully it got resurrected with a different buyer; had a nightmare with the original movers (they didn't show up and didnt tell us!); also, didn't get the keys to late in the day, so had put what we could in the garage with rest of stuff sitting in the street (good job it was a dry day!). Looking forward now having to shift it all back into the house. At least we're in! :D

See this is why you just give your Mrs the money and let her deal with it all. No stress 8-)

Place your bets on what you think a 4 bedroom house in Walthamstow might have as an asking price.

Sorry to hear this, Milner. For what it's worth, I complete on Friday and have had to do exactly this(have been given access to the house already). Professional cleaners and a gardener for the jungle that has been left surrounding the house. Cigarette butts and burst footballs all over the front and back garden, gates off the hinges, filthy rooms with books, football tops, Christmas decorations and other personal effects strewn across the place. I'm having to run everything up to the dump just to have it clear for the cleaners coming in.

I bought the house from my dad. His sister has been living in it for the last six or seven years.
