Sorry to hear this, Milner. For what it's worth, I complete on Friday and have had to do exactly this(have been given access to the house already). Professional cleaners and a gardener for the jungle that has been left surrounding the house. Cigarette butts and burst footballs all over the front and back garden, gates off the hinges, filthy rooms with books, football tops, Christmas decorations and other personal effects strewn across the place. I'm having to run everything up to the dump just to have it clear for the cleaners coming in.

I bought the house from my dad. His sister has been living in it for the last six or seven years.

Well that isn't VIP treatment is it.

No it isn't, it's caused a lot of stress and it seems to be causing a hell of an issue between my dad and his sister. But, you know, lol VIP.

Clearing my dad's house was a strawberry floating nightmare. He was a serious hoarder, as in you can't even get in to some rooms and they were to the ceiling with stuff. I had a proper breakdown at one point doing one of the rooms, it was awful, wouldn't wish doing that on anyone.

I remember you posting about this at the time, it sounded like a strawberry floating harrowing experience. Nothing quite as bad as that here, the inside isn't great but a couple of weekends will sort it. The garden and outside of the house are vile though. Four-foot weeds, two gates that have literally rotted off their hinges, cigarette ends everywhere and bizarrely several full four-packs of 2l water bottles strewn across the front garden and side of the house. :slol: The original owner would've been spinning in his grave if he hadn't been cremated.

I didn't mean any offence, it was just a joke because you accidentally used an alt account.

I think you should be more grateful for what he's done. Let's leave it at that.

Been living in my new house for over three weeks now. Moving-in day was an absolute nightmare. Rubbish everywhere. The place hadn't been cleaned since we first viewed it a year ago.

We then discover the previous owner lying motionless on the bedroom floor. Wife shook her and no response. We thought she was dead. Then on a second shake she woke up. She was just drunk and sleeping. We then spent about an hour trying to get sense from her, as we tried to find out how she was going to leave (she had a dog and no car). The whole time she was arguing and upset that we had bought her house. Suddenly a man with a van turned up out of nowhere and they both left.

Changed the locks straight away.

Spent the first week just cleaning and it made a huge difference. Three weeks on and most of the major annoyances are now fixed and it's starting to feel like home.

Wtf. Is that when you first went in, or has she gone in there when you've been in there all this time??

"Now remember, when it comes to property it's location, location, location! If you've got a house in a wonderful neighbourhood in catchment for the best schools then don't worry about the odd drunk or two that you might have passed out on the floor!"

It was when we first went in. We changed the locks as soon as she was gone.
