I went up to Newry (40mins away) a couple of weeks ago. It was the first time Post Brexit and it's strawberry floated. Pre-Brexit I could pay in Euro's everywhere and they got a lot of business from the south for the cheap alcohol mostly but also some brands you can't get in Ireland (sainsbury's - Asda).
It used to be jam packed every time we went up, it was nearly a ghost town, on a SATURDAY. half the shops were closed or had closing down sales, entire wings of super markets dark with shutters everwhere. I'm not suggesting this is indicative of the UK as a whole but Newry was a major destination for us in the republic and it's been hit harder than most other places.
My strawberry floating phone changed over to Orange too, something that never happened before AND we got a small charge for paying in Sterling on our cards, this wasn't a thing before because they accepted payment in Euro's.
Shouldn't she be encoraging the making of sandwiches?
Bakeries, farming, cheese makers all profit from it. Telling people to not buy such essentials may put people out of work. Is she trying to bring down the economy with her words? Discussing Anti-British rhetoric coming from the right.
