It looks great!

I'm sure we will see the gameplay very soon at one for the Summer Fest Games or Sony/Microsoft show.

I wonder what year it is in the timeline for the Assassin's Creed series.

Outrunner wrote:Nitpick: Yasuke isn't a Shogun, he was just a sword-bearer in service of Oda Nobunaga (who in turn wasn't Shogun either, he didn't live long enough to claim that title). At this point in history we're between Shogunates.

Yeah, my mistake. I meant samurai.

Caution: If you're thinking of buying a disc version of the game, an online check is necessary to commence installation, meaning that when the server is turned off a few years down the line you could no longer be able to use your disc. Click to see the full story.

Assassin’s Creed games mega crash in price quite quickly, or it’ll no doubt end up on Ubisoft+, so I’ll play it on that.

Have to say as someone who has been bored of AC for a number of years now, I think the setting for this one looks particularly brilliant.

Hopefully they release a Discovery Tour version of this like they did with Odyssey/Origins, would love a free explore/education mode on Sengoku Japan.

Ubisoft being silly and not putting this on Steam? Mirage isn’t either

So does it seem like it picks who you play as, depending on the mission? That would be disappointing if so. Don’t really want to play as the tanky Samurai.

From what I've read, you have a free choice, so you can approach missions differently with each character. Though I imagine some of them will be pre-defined, for story reasons.

EDIT:

Can you switch freely between the two characters?

Game director Charles Benoit: Yes, you can switch between Yasuke and Naoe at any moment in the open world, once they are united. Of course, it won’t be accessible in the middle of a fight or an infiltration, but we’re giving the control to the players to choose their experience.

There are a few moments where we’re forcing one character, like during their introduction, their personal quests, and a few special missions where both are present at the same time, but I would say most of the game is totally free to choose.

He's at Ubi Bordeaux, who are listed as a support studio, while the lead studio is Quebec. So, maybe?

Cool.

I wish him well, but it's still an Ubisoft game, so I'll wait a few weeks for it to be half price. ;)

Nice. She has a grappling hook for easier infiltration, but she’s much more vulnerable once spotted. A good risk/reward trade.

Didn't they already have that in Syndicate?

There was a grappling hook, yes. But you were not particularly vulnerable for using it. This will make it a strategic choice.

To be fair, there’s a decent amount in there, and that statue of both characters looks pretty spectacular. But I don’t collect that stuff. Always the Gold Edition for me: game and season pass, but no cosmetic tat.

Interesting call to use a character who is an actual real-life figure (Yasuke). I'm not big on Japanese history but I think he's a bit of a blank slate in that not much is known of him. It's still causing a bit of controversy over there by the sound of it.

I'm just playing through the original AC for the first time, so I assume I'll get to this at some point in 2065.

I've no idea if it's been controversial in Japan, but I've seen plenty of Brits/Americans getting upset about it.

I haven't even looked to see if the usual "BuT iT's NoT aCcUrAtE" crowd have come out yet to complain about how the fantasy game has taken liberties with the truth. But I presume they have. :dread:
