People pining for the old free-for-all days of the web don’t realise how much they sound like Republicans.

So are most of you using youtube on a laptop / desktop?

Or is there a way to enjoy YT on Android, iOS and smart TVs without adverts and without paying for premium?

That's the fault of the channel you're watching rather than YT itself, as when you upload a video which is longer than 8 mins, you can turn on ads during the video (less than 8 mins just means ads at the start) and are able to select where they are placed.

I'm the exact same and have never felt the need to even consider strawberry floating around with adblockers for anything. Some folk seem to get really pissy about seconds-long ads meant to support the creators they enjoy watching and the service as a whole.

If I find a creator good enough to support, I do it directly through a patron if they have one.

Sorry, but you can blame the marketing companies who have systematically turned the Internet into one giant strawberry floating billboard. They couldn't be trusted to be show some restraint and have soured it for everyone else. As such I have a blanket adblocker policy. I will only ever disable my adblock if it prevents the page operating as it should. strawberry float adverts.

A quick 2-3 second clip at the start I can stomach, but anything beyond that is intrusive. Luckily I have sponsor block Installed as well, which skips so many "sponsor" segments for me it's great.

That's mostly correct but sometimes when some company copyrights your video cause it shows a quick flash of something of there's they can force adverts on it whether the creator/youtuber want them or not.

YouTube ads aren't that bad, whereas some other platforms (Crunchyroll being a good example) ads make the damn thing unwatchable.

It does help that I mainly watch videos from people who don't litter their videos with ads, so it's only start/finish ads.

Well, yeah. Obviously there's something for everyone. I mean, the videos go without saying, don't they? But apart from that, what have google ever done for us?

Yeah. All right. I'll grant you Google+ and Google Stadia are two things that Google have done.

I pay for YouTube Premium. Maybe I'm a sucker somehow. But I use YouTube plenty so really appreciate the ad-lessness and being able to play YouTube sound with phone screen off and using YouTube Music as my music thing.

Whenever I'm exposed to someone's ad-full YouTube it makes me glad I pay for Premium, I probably watch YT more than any streaming service so a monthly fee feels fair.

Maybe I'm part of The Problem.

(I don't really know what The Problem is)

I have no issues with people paying for premium. It's not really any different to paying for Netflix/Disney/etc.

I don't use YouTube enough to have ever considered paying for premium. And after looking it up, I don't think I'd ever consider paying £12 a month for it.
